    Making plans to travel again

Disclosure – this is a collaborative post Did you have plans to travel this year? We’re always a bit last minute so hadn’t thought further than February half term. Luckily we had a lovely few days in an Airbnb (which I hope to write more about at some point). With any travel plans on hold for the next few months, now is the time to start making our dream wish list for when life returns to normal. Making plans to travel again For the past two years we’ve visited Duinrell in The Netherlands. The first time we booked with Eurocamp,…

    Exploring Shaldon with kids

Shaldon is a village in South Devon, on the south bank of the estuary of the River Teign, opposite Teignmouth. The village is really pretty and unspoilt, full of quaint little streets and shops and definitely worth a visit. Last week we were staying in Teignmouth with a direct view over to Shaldon. We couldn’t wait to explore Shaldon with the kids. It’s a quick drive away but parking is limited so we opted to visit by boat! The Teign Ferry Shaldon and Teignmouth are linked by the Teign Ferry, very possibly England’s oldest passenger ferry service. A service has…

A day out at Babbacombe Cliff Railway and Model Village

Last week we were able to re-visit two attractions in the pretty coastal village of Babbacombe near Torquay in Devon. It had been a few years since our last visit to Babbacombe but there is plenty to see and do with the Cliff Railway, Model Village and more. Babbacombe Cliff Railway Our first stop was the Babbacombe Cliff Railway which first opened to the public in 1926. Although there is a very steep pathway down to Oddicombe Beach it is much nicer to buy a ticket and travel on the Cliff Railway. It’s open everyday (weather permitting!) so we bought our…

Our first family camping trip with the Vango Anteus 600 6 Person Family Tent

It’s been 2 weeks since our first camping trip, definitely time to share our adventure with you. My children have been part of our local District Scouts for the past 3 years. Both of them have camped out at our local Scout Hut and my son has been away camping. When we received an invitation to a Family Camp at Phasels Wood we jumped at the chance to experience camping together. Now I haven’t camped since school but we were excited to try camping as a family. We were camping at Phasels Wood Scout Campsite and Activity Centre about 30…

Reasons to visit Castle Acre Priory with kids

On our way home from our week in Norfolk we stopped off at the breath-taking village of Castle Acre. The other day I told you about our visit to the ruins of Castle Acre Castle which was the perfect place for my children to run off some energy. We also explored Castle Acre Bailey Gate, the Norman planned streets of Castle Acre village, as well as the ruins of Castle Acre Priory. There is so much to see and do in Castle Acre that it is well worth a visit. Castle Acre Priory Castle Acre Priory was a Cluniac priory, dedicated to St Mary, St…

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. My children are back at school after a lovely 2 week break. I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as record some of our family adventures, and one which I always enjoy writing.
