This was the third handmade toy drop for The Toy Society. I made another wee softie scotty dog and dropped it in Highgate Woods. I hope someone found it! Fortunately I dropped it the same weekend that there was an art event going on through the woods so hopefully it was spotted 🙂

I’m wondering what do you buy the boy who has everything for his first Christmas? My son has everything he needs and at 7 months he’s too young to hand me a wish list of toys he would like. I love this little felt gingerbread house I recently made. It’s just a couple of inches high so looks great on our mantle. It’s made from a pattern in the softies kit. It’s a really simple little project that only took me an evening but will look great as a Christmas ornament on our mantlepiece or hanging on our Christmas tree. I’m getting stuck into my Christmas craft list which is just as well, only 9 weeks left!

Today I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. A while ago I bought Edward a beanbag chair but he never looked very comfortable sitting on it. So over the weekend I refashioned the beanbag into a large cushion using some lovely alphabet fabric from my Cath Kidston stash! Much happier (honest!).

This beautiful facecloth was made from a pattern in Natural Nursery Knits. I bought this book from my favourite shop in Ryde when Edward was a few weeks old. It is a lovely book, full of unusual patterns and gorgeously illustrated. Now, I can’t knit so you may wonder why I bought a book of knitting patterns! A couple of weeks ago Kitschy Coo put a call out to test her new reversible hoodie pattern. I leapt at the chance. I’m a complete novice crafter but love handmade so I had to give it a go. I chose a fleecy orange for the lining and green camouflage for the shell. The pattern was well laid out with easy to follow steps. First I cut the pattern in both fabrics. I absolutely adore the badge blanket in the current Cath Kidston catalogue. I think it would be perfect to keep in the car and use when we’re out and about on picnics. However the £60 price tag is a bit steep for my mummy purse and I don’t think my husband would be pleased if I used the child benefit! So I’ve decided to make my own. Whilst on holiday on the Isle of Wight I really wanted to make and drop another toy for The Toy Society. So that’s exactly what I did using this pattern. We sneaked out after the baby was in bed (don’t worry, my mum was at home!) and dropped the felt scottie dog by the children’s park by the Canoe Lake, Ryde. It was pretty easy to spot from the children’s park so I hope it gets found soon.
