A while ago I was looking through Etsy for something. I have forgotten what exactly as I so often follow links and discover the most amazing handmade items. On one such session I discovered Letterbox Kits and treated myself to the gingerbread house accessories kit. This cute little box landed on my doorstep. I opened it up to discover all these wonderful little things. Here’s a close up, aren’t those decorations adorable! I finally found some time to make them so sat down and looked through everything. I added white polymer clay to the roof of a gingerbread house for snow…

Our latest Bostik Bloggers parcel arrived full of crafty products and I immediately knew what to make. The theme was garden and my 4 year old loves her fairies so I thought it would be fun to make a fairy garden for small world play. We’ve been collecting little items for a while so we had everything we needed to make a special fairy house and place it in our indoor fairy garden. We took a sweet little bottle and painted the bottom part with white acrylic paint and the top with red and white acrylic paint to look like…

My 6 year old has been working his way through the Roald Dahl books and the latest is The BFG. As soon as we started reading it he asked what crafts we could make, so we looked through our copy of Roald Dahl’s Completely Revolting Recipes and found a recipe for The BFG’s Grobswitchy Cake. “It is a little bit like mixing a cake’, the BFG said. ‘If you is putting the right amounts of all the different things into it, you is making the cake come out any way you want, sugary, splongy, curranty, Christmassy or grobswitchy. It is…

This year I want to make a little mini quilt for my quilt gallery wall each month of the year. So when I was invited to take part in the Brother Crafts Challenge I just had to say yes. I have some really pretty fabrics in my stash and decided to use this sweet Spring time print from Belle and Boo. It’s a Cotton Poplin which I’ve used in a couple of projects around the house. Featuring Boo and the butterfly tumbling across this traditional patchwork-style fabric, I knew it would be perfect for a Spring time mini quilt. Simple Spring…

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more. I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to try something new with each of the cover gifts. Mollie Makes Papercut Book Issue 63 came with a really cool Mollie Makes Papercut Book. I love paper craft and I was so excited to see this. I enjoyed making the last paper gems kit from the last issue, there’s just something lovely about working with such an…

Adult colouring books were definitely the big thing in 2015. I have a shelf of them myself and a lovely collection of colouring pens, which the children know they are not allowed to touch! It looks like the trend will be continuing this year and I’m excited to share three new books and a new art therapy series from Anastasia Catris, the creator of #ColourMeMindful. Misplacing your wallet, forgetting where you parked your car, or getting your friend’s birthday wrong: these are just some of the many common memory slips we all experience from time to time. And such cognitive…

It’s been a beautifully quiet week. The children only went back to nursery and school on Tuesday and we all enjoyed a short week. After school clubs start this week so I’m glad we had a slow start to the year. My 5 year old has discovered hot chocolate so we treated ourselves to a loaded hot chocolate in a new cafe on the high street. I’ve spent the evenings working on my Liberty rainbow quilt. I’ve finished the top and backed it with a gorgeous Liberty print. This week I’ll be hand stitching the binding and hope to…

Do you ever look at a craft project and put it off for no reason? I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut lately and am finding it so difficult to pick up any craft projects. Last night I finally took the latest Mollie Makes cover gift, a crochet charms bracelet kit, out of its packet. Jenny Makes Mollie Makes crochet charms bracelet Now everyone knows I can’t crochet so I feel a little sad when I see beautiful crochet projects everywhere. However, part of the fun of being creative is re-imagining things so I took the contents and…
