Mmmm, gingerbread pancakes! I’ve been meaning to try these for a while but have been waiting to find a jar of molasses so I could make them the American way. I finally tracked down a jar in my local independent health food shop. In a separate bowl beat the egg with the vanilla and molasses and add the water. Combine the…

Last week I spent a day slaving over a hot stove preparing a delicious and nutritious meal for my husband – Julia Child’s beef bourguignon. A while ago we sat down and watched the film Julie and Julia. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s based on the blog of Julie Powell who decided to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking (1961) within 364 days. She blogged about her progress which eventually turned into a book, then a film – apparently the first film ever produced from a blog. The film appealed to…

We were given the chance to try the new Annabel Karmel iPhone app called ‘Annabel’s Essential Guide to Feeding your Baby and Toddler’. I love my iPhone and I enjoy cooking for Edward so this was a perfect opportunity for me to try something new! My iPhone is stuffed full of apps to entertain Edward but just occasionally he lets me use it. I have a couple of recipe apps as I find them perfect for flicking through for inspiration when I’m short of time. The Annabel Karmel app has 100 recipes which have been helpfully split into sections for…

Eek, just where is the time going?! I’ve managed to tick a few things off my list over the last few weeks. I have participated in a couple of fun swaps Finished Edward’s dinosaur blanket for his first birthday Started driving lessons and I’m actually enjoying them so who knows, I might even actually book my test in the next month or two. Which leads me on nicely to the fact I booked my theory test for the end of the month Been geocaching whilst out and about Tried new recipes (mainly for Edward’s benefit) Made a new friend and…

Tonight I am making the most random food stuff for Christmas – onion marmalade. It started off as an innocent conversation with my mother the other day. It ended tonight in me peeling 10 large onions and making marmalade for the first (and probably last time). I’m not sure how our jars of homemade marmalade will be received as Christmas gifts. I might stock up on some jars of sweets just in case. I’ve seen some lovely jars of fizzy gummies, white snowies, cola cubes and jelly babies which will go down very well. I’m hoping to have some time…

We were given an opportunity to test some Aunt Bessie products. As a busy mummy I SEIZED this opportunity – we love Aunt Bessie products and I’m happy to reduce my time in the kitchen so I can spend more time with my family. My husband and I also realised we had not sat down to a roast since Edward was born! Today we spent some time in the biggest food shop we could find, searching the shelves for Aunt Bessie products. There was a wider range than I had anticipated and we purchased homestyle roast potatoes, irresistable yorkshire puddings,…
