Are you excited about Pancake Day next week? We are! It has to be one of my favourite childhood memories – the anticipation, the smell and sounds of the cooking and of course, the yummy flavours. I think Pancake Day remains special because although pancakes are simple, cheap and quick to make, we usually only eat them once a year. Our 2 and 3 year old need a little help to appreciate the finer things in life. Which is why we had a practice run for Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday as it’s traditionally known. You really don’t need many…

My children love to help in the kitchen so were very excited by a recent delivery. We were sent everything we needed to create Mini Pita Pizzas with Pick’n’Mix toppings and McCain French Fries. Yesterday I set to work in the kitchen, making a tasty tomato sauce which was smothered over a couple of grilled pita breads for the simplest mini pita pizzas. Then the children got to pick their toppings. They were offered a huge range from pineapple to mushrooms, mozzarella and pepperoni. They opted for ham! They only took about 20 minutes to prepare and were really fun…

I love a challenge so was pretty excited to be asked to try out TOTAL Greek Yoghurt. Apparently the recipe hasn’t changed a smidge since 1926 when it was first made in Athens. TOTAL Greek Yoghurt can be used in lots of recipes – whether it’s used as a replacement for cream in a fresh, strawberry gateaux or transformed in to a zingy slaw to accompany juicy pork chops or burgers! I was sent a tub of TOTAL Greek Yoghurt and the ingredients to make Jumbo Italian Spiced Chickpea Burgers. Now a meal without meat is a bit of an anathema…

Henri Le Worm: The Missing Cookbook, a fun new app for the iPad was launched today at Brasserie Blanc in Covent Garden. We were very excited to be invited to the launch event, especially as Simon Pegg, who lent his voice to Henri, attended the event too! After the speeches we took part in a cooking demonstration hosted by Raymond Blanc, who created the recipes for the app. Henri Le Worm was created by Raymond Blanc’s son Olivier Blanc and actress Charlotte Salt. It is a fun interactive app for children aged two and above to enjoy with the aim…

I love trying to make meal times exciting for my children. Too often the toddler shouts “I’m hungry” at me, giving me a very small time frame to whip up something tasty for him. I’ve just been introduced to the new Richmond Mini Meatballs and they are perfect for quick and easy meals. There are lots of ways you can use them, such as traditional meatballs and spaghetti, but we like them as kebabs! Last night, after a long day shopping, it was very hot and sticky so the children had a bath before dinner. As usual I needed to…

Eye-catching title huh? Today I need to share something with you. White bread is good for you. Fact. I think we’ve all got used to the argument that white bread is bad for you. I remember when I was at Uni a friend constantly sang “The whiter the bread, the quicker you’re dead” at me. That really stuck with me and I’ve been buying brown and wholemeal bread ever since. The odd loaf of white bread has snuck in, as we all know just how delicious it is toasted and dripping with butter. Today I was invited to the launch…

The other day I wrote about needing inspiration for cooking family meals. I’m sure I can’t be the only mum who struggles to think up exciting meals to encourage my children to eat. I’m happy to admit I’m probably one of the 42% of parents with a repertoire of seven meals, which is why I was happy to review the latest recipe book from Annabel Karmel – Quick & easy toddler recipes. My children are both good eaters and usually demolish anything put in front of them. I often feel guilty about giving them dull meals and have been trying…
