    Rainbow layer cake

Today the toddler turned 3. We just gave him a couple of presents to open before nursery, unfortunately one of them was a Buzz Lightyear which went off before it was opened, rather giving the game away! He was totally spoilt with some Disney Cars for his collection, a train for his train set, and a wooden bike. His name was read out on cBeebies and he was only a little bemused by the home made Lightning McQueen pinata. We made a special rainbow layer cake which was fun to make, if a little time consuming. Fortunately the weather was…

Learn to read with the Alphablocks DVD

I admit that we watch cBeebies most days. The toddler has his favourite programmes and if he’s a bit bored with his toys he’ll often ask for “Beebs” as he likes to call it. We’re familiar with The Alphablocks who are 26 living letters who fall out of the sky and discover that if they hold hands and make a word, it magically comes to life. It has a very catchy theme tune! Big Brother was sent a new DVD which aims to help your child enter the magical world of reading with the hit CBeebies show, Alphablocks. Based on…

Counting down (and Peppa Pig biscuits)

We’re currently counting down until Little Sis’ first birthday. I’m not sure where the year has gone, it’s been fun but not without it’s difficulties. Her cheeky little smile seems to have got me through the worst of the sleepless nights and days of screaming. Yes, my child is not perfect and has only just started sleeping through without waking! So far, the handmade birthday card has been sent in to CBeebies, 6 weeks early as requested. We’ve had a dry run with making Peppa Pig biscuits. The final version were flooded with pink icing but I forgot to photograph…

    Trick or Treacle?

Although we don’t take the children trick or treating I can’t resist making some sweet treats with them. This Halloween Lyle’s has revamped their traditional black treacle with the name ‘Trick or Treacle’ and turned the entire tin into a pumpkin head. It’s a really lovely collectable item so I snapped one up to go with my Lyle’s ‘Happy and Glorious’ Golden Syrup from the summer. They make great pen pots! Did you know you can use black treacle to make lots of yummy treats? There are some great recipes floating around for Halloween – how about Witches’ ribs with…

Giveaway: My First Justin’s Jokes by CBeebies Star Justin Fletcher

I have a little cBeebies addict, never happier than watching some of his favourite programmes, such as Chuggington, Mike the Knight and of course Mr Tumble. The man behind Mr Tumble, the very talented Justin Fletcher, has just released his first book for pre-schoolers, titled My First Justin’s Jokes. The book is aimed at 2 years+ so perfect for my toddler. We’ve had lots of fun reading the jokes and looking at the pictures of Justin dressed up. Our favourite joke has to be – What do you call an angry pea? Grump pea! The book includes jokes about animals…

Thursdays child has far to go

Today wasn’t just Mother’s Day but also Big Brother’s 2nd birthday. We had piles of presents (far too many!), a birthday outing to the RAF Museum at Hendon, our handmade birthday card was read out on cBeebies and we made and ate a Thomas the Tank Engine birthday cake. Happy Birthday to my darling son! I can’t believe you’re 2 years old today. It feels like you’ve always been in our life, like I’ve always been your mum. You make my heart feel like it will burst from my chest. You make me cry with tears of frustration and happiness.…

    Rastamouse and Da Easy Crew

The only mouse I ever want to see in my house is the new plush Rastamouse from Character Options! This crime fighting Rastafarian rodent and his posse, Da Easy Crew, have become modern day heroes in many a household. Edward was very lucky to be sent the new plush and a Rastamouse DVD which have only just been launched. The plush Rastamouse is great fun – press his tummy and he speaks! He’ll sing and call out phrases in his own unique way. Scratchy and Zoomer are also available. The toy is a firm favourite with Edward who loves to…

In the Night Garden Daytime Sleepover!

Edward was invited to the Rainforest Cafe to help celebrate the launch of a new toy range which includes Good Night Friend Upsy Daisy. He’s a huge In The Night Garden fan so I knew this was one event we couldn’t miss. When we arrived at the venue we found a lovely area filled with plush Upsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle’s to play with. Edward was in his element and happily played until lunch arrived. After lunch Upsy Daisy arrived and Edward, initially shy, was very happy to pose for photos with her. In fact he was having such a…
