    How to re-size a pillowcase

Edward’s bedtime routine is pj’s, bottle and climbing the stairs to his bedroom. In his bedroom he has a cuddle with both of us and we give him his dummy and a little noo noo (made from an old muslin) to take to bed. I’m not sure how it started but we’ve done this for months and it’s very cute to see. For a long time Edward has put the muslin under his chin and cuddled up with it in his cot and lately I’ve been thinking he’s ready for a pillow to lie on. I picked up a lovely…

    Cath Kidston cross stitch

My latest favourite craft is cross stitch. I’ve been working my way through my copy of Cath Kidston Stitch which is full of projects which can be made using needlepoint or cross stitch. This pattern turned our bigger than it was supposed to but I’m enjoying the challenge of trying something new. It’s a great excuse to visit more craft shops too!   Linking up with Handmade Thursday

    Vintage child’s boat

I have a favourite shop in Totnes, Devon, which is stuffed full of vintage treasures. On our last visit I picked up a lovely vintage Star Yachts boat. Only the wooden hull remained, the sails, wooden masts and fittings were gone. Vintage wooden boat Star Yachts was founded just after the First World War by Franz Marie Denye, a Belgian refugee who had fled Belgium at the beginning of the war. Originally a builder of full size ships, he decided that models would provide a livelihood for him and his family. The works site was compulsorily purchased to clear the…

    Cath Kidston flat pack hamper

With all the beautiful weather we’ve had lately we’d been on a few picnics. Fortunately we always take a cool bag on holiday and Edward has his own cool bag too. However, Cath Kidston have produced a new flat pack hamper box which I must get hold of for our next outing. This pretty flat pack hamper box is ideal for take-away dining and the best news is there’s no washing up!  The set contains four paper plates; four wooden knives, forks and spoons; two large laminated food boxes; two medium laminated food boxes; four paper napkins and four salt…

    Royal Wedding souvenirs

I don’t know what’s come over me but I can’t stop hunting out souvenirs of the forthcoming Royal wedding. I blame my grandmother who was a fervent fan of the Royal family and kept scrapbooks of Princess Di! Royal Wedding souvenirs I’ve picked up some great souvenirs including a Royal Wedding keyring from Cath Kidston: I was fortunate to win a limited edition ‘I do’ tea towel by Maria Holmer Dahlgren: I purchased some fabric called Royal Wedding in John Lewis. I’m debating what to make with it as the washing instructions say handwash only. On a recent trip to…

Cath Kidston and Uniqlo Charity Project

I’m sure you know I’m a huge fan of Cath Kidston. Only today I stopped off to buy a lovely business card holder for my new Moo business cards at the Cath Kidston on Marylebone High Street. Today was a bit of a shopping marathon and, whilst browsing in Uniqlo in Westfield, I spotted some very familiar prints. Cath Kidston has teamed up with Uniqlo to produce a range of tshirts using some of her most popular prints. Many of the tshirts are already sold out but I snapped up two as they are currently on offer at 2 for…

    West End girl

Last week I had a cheeky trip to the West End. I say cheeky because since Edward came along I get little time to myself. Given a couple of hours I decided to go shopping even though I needed to catch up on some sleep and the house needed a clean. Anyway, I hopped on the tube to Covent Garden and I visited two shops, spent all the money I didn’t have, and came home. You can probably guess the two shops – Cath Kidston and Orla Kiely! In Cath Kidston I picked up a new phone case for my…

    Christmas Cath Kidston style

I have a small obsession with Cath Kidston and although I try not to go too often on my last visit I spent far too much. I went in for the new London iPhone 4 case which I duly purchased. However her Christmas range is starting to creep into the stores and I couldn’t resist. I came out with the iPhone case, a reversible jumper for Edward (which I couldn’t resist) and a Christmas sack to hold his presents, as well as paper chains, Christmas crackers, and paper cups, plates and napkins from the Christmas range. Eeeek, an expensive trip.…

A tourist in our own city

Today we met my cousin and her family as she hadn’t yet met Edward. We had lunch in the cafe at the Mamas and Papas on Regent Street. The food is delicious, the location is perfect and it’s never too busy as not many people seem to know about it. Edward got lots of kisses and couples from his adoring great aunt and cousins, and pressies too, so he was very excited. After lunch we went for a walk around central London. Although we often pop into the West End we never seem to have time to relax and be…
