1. Today I went to BlogCamp, organised by the fabulous Sally, and I had a great time. I learned lots of tips to improve my blog, met up with online friends, got to hand out my lovely new business cards and had a day off from being mummy. 2. I have the best husband! He booked the day off from work when I said I wanted to go to BlogCamp and spent the day with Edward. They played in the sandpit for most of the day and then went on a boys’ trip to a local model shop. It sounds…

I started my blog back in 2005 and since then have used it to post about my hobbies and life. I quite like reading back through it and seeing how my interests have changed. When I started blogging I would record progress with my family history research but one day I discovered sewing and crafty blogs and never looked back. I hope my blog also reflects my personal life, when I changed from a miss to a mrs and later added the title of mummy to that of wife. I’ve been using my blog header for a while but have…

This weeks Listography is your top 5 favourite sweets from your childhood. I have a real sweet tooth so it wasn’t hard. In fact, I could have listed my top 50 sweets with tom thumb drops, fizzy cola bottles, jazzies, popping candy and foam bananas. I’m old and I remember when 10p would buy a bagful of sweeties. I dread to think how much Edward will be demanding from me when he gets older. shrimps rice paper sheets bubble gum sweety necklaces flying saucers

The last few weeks have been busy which is what I need to take my mind off my imminent return to work. Maternity leave is a a wonderful bubble and I’m glad I discovered the world of parent bloggers to help keep me company. A couple of weeks ago I went to work to discuss reducing my hours. It’s taken me a while to post about the results of the meeting because although the outcome was favourable it all left me feeling really unsettled. In a week or two I will be going back to work part-time. My boss doesn’t…

There’s a new photograph meme over at Cafe Bebe called Flashback Friday. It sounded fun and I found the perfect photograph! We’ll shortly be celebrating Edward’s first birthday and I thought I’d compare my own party many moons ago. I’m a definite child of the 70s with that plastic bib and the party food. We’re taking Edward off to Bruges for a couple of days over his birthday so hopefully we’ll have a little party when we return home. Expect the same kind of photograph of Edward surrounded by food with rosy red cheeks, recorded for posterity.

I love Ella’s Notes from Home and have previously joined in a couple of times. This week’s prompt really made me think: Five things you want your children to know about you. Did I really exist before Edward came along? Sometimes it’s hard to remember! 1 I did exist before you came along. I’m more than a mummy, I’m more than a wife, daughter, sister, auntie, friend. Sometimes I struggle to remember who I once was. I’d love to be more than a label and am working hard to forge my own identity. 2 I have dreams but they’ve…

Michelle at Mummy From The Heart hosts a great weekly meme called Reasons to be Cheerful. I’ve seen lots of bloggers join in and thought I would have a go. 1 Edward took his first step today! I really wanted this to happen before he starts nursery as I wanted to see it. Lately he’s been standing unaided for a few seconds and today he took his first step. I went a bit mad and shrieked at my husband who fortunately saw him do it too. 2 I’m off to the Save the Children Blogging conference on Saturday…

This meme has been around for a while and as nobody has tagged me (sob) I thought I would join in. So Five Things That Make Me Feel Good: 1 Putting an exhausted boy to bed because we’ve had a great day together. I love it when we’re both tired but happy. This means that we’ve had a good day, probably gone out and done something fun and created memories. 2 An empty washing basket means I’m on top of some of the domestic chores. The washing basket seems to be permanently full since Edward arrived. He’s a proper boy…
