The children have been spending a lot of time in their garden playhouse this summer. We have been helping them make the space their own and personalising it with their favourite posters and beanbags. Today we made our own Swallows and Amazons inspired bunting to decorate the playhouse.
Swallows and Amazons inspired bunting
We used: A4 white card, Sizzix machine and bunting die, scalpel, cutting mat, contact paper and cellophane sheets.
First I cut bunting flags using my Sizzix machine and the Bunting die to create 6 flags. Then I drew a swallow on half of the flags and a skull and crossbones on the other half.
Then I cut out my shapes from the bunting flags using my scalpel and cutting mat.
Whilst I was finishing this off my 6 year old chose which colours of cellophane to use for our sun catchers. We cut a piece of contact paper and stuck it on one side of each flag.
Then my son cut a piece of cellophane and stuck it on the other side of each flag. We punched holes at the top of each flag to hang them on string.
They make great bunting for our playhouse but they will look perfect around our teepee too.
