I was brought up to believe that breakfast was the most important part of the day which is why, every morning around 8am, you will find us sitting around the table enjoying breakfast together.
I have two hungry children so they need something filling which will see them through ’til lunchtime. My children get bored quite easily, I’m not sure where they get that from!, but I admit to having a cupboard full of cereal for them to choose from. We’ve tried everything. Quite often the children come food shopping with me and are drawn to the brightly coloured boxes, especially those with the free gifts which feature prominently.
I quickly became wise to the tricks of the marketeers and, when I realised what was in the brightly coloured boxes, banned them from the house. Many breakfast cereals are full of hidden nasties that have no place at the breakfast table, or in the lives of our growing children.
So I was excited to find that out of the few cereals that passed the no nasties test were BEAR Alphabites which is the only healthy breakfast cereal for children.
Alphabites are not only healthy but they are fun, which is always useful if the children have started their daily “my throat hurts I can’t go to school today” speech. BEAR Alphabites are crunchy alphabet letters made with absolutely NO refined sugar, salt, artificial colours or flavours. Obviously the children don’t need to know that they are getting a breakfast which is good for them. The fact that their breakfast cereal is in the shape of letters makes things fun for them too.
Little Sis is going through an interesting stage at the moment. “What letter does x begin with, mummy?” is her favourite game, obviously picked up from nursery where they are being introduced to phonics. Yep, Alphabites can be educational too as you sift through the letters to find the one she is desperately looking for!
The science behind the cereal means that Alphabites are made from just 6 ingredients, including 5 tasty multigrains (barley, oats, wheat, corn and rice), and BEAR’s special ingredient, coconut blossom nectar. The children love it and I have no problem getting them to eat their breakfast. They like the fact it’s crunchy and the milk doesn’t make it soggy, there’s nothing worse that tasteless, shapeless breakfast cereal. But there’s none of that with Alphabites!
It’s high in fibre, vitamins, minerals and amino acids and low in GI too. It’s also not just for the little ones, adults can enjoy it too, it’s just that the cereal will go down quicker than ever, so make sure you stock up!

March 1, 2016 at 3:24 pmI agree that breakfast is a really important meal but most of the time I have to eat on the go as I don’t want to wake up early enough! These look far better than the cereals which probably have loads of sugar and additives x

March 1, 2016 at 8:40 pmI always thought Alpabites were chip like waffles, I remember something as a child that my Nan cooked with sausages and beans and it was always fun to see who could make which word. I was also taught that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, though I am these days useless at remembering to have it x
