This time last year I sat down and thought about how I wanted to celebrate the New Year with my children. They love a reason to celebrate and over the last few years we’ve made lots of New Year crafts from New Year bells to a paper bell garland and little confetti boxes. On New Year’s Eve we usually have a nice family meal and play a board game – pretty low key but a lovely way to mark the end of a year. Just like last year I’ll be printing out the Printable New Year’s Resolution for Kids 2018 from…

This week has been a bit hit and miss. I’ve been busy planning for my son’s birthday which is on Saturday. He’s turning 7 which is kinda shocking as I remember the day he was born as if it was yesterday. We’re having a low key day with some of his friends coming over, then taking him out for dinner. Currently there’s a huge pile of presents to be wrapped in the corner of my bedroom – I’m not quite sure how he hasn’t guessed what’s hiding under the Spiderman blanket! Every week I try and write a post about…

I know I say it every week but last week was busy! Somehow we survived Pancake Day and World Book Day, as well as the normal school routine and after school clubs. Thankfully our weekend was pretty quiet so we all had a chance to recharge our batteries. Time for my weekly post about the 5 things which made me happy the previous week. Monday happy things {Week 127} I really love helping at my children’s school and started the week with a trip to our local Church with Year 2. No-one had checked if there would be a service…

On Saturday the whole family went to the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace. This isn’t usually my idea of a fun day out but we used to live in the area and I was really keen to go back to re-visit some old haunts. The London Model Engineering Exhibition is in it’s 21st year and Ally Pally is a great venue for it. It’s a huge and very old entertainment complex built at the top of a hill. It houses a pub and ice rink as well as huge exhibition halls and we’ve seen Keane perform there as…

It’s that time of week again when I write my favourite post – my Monday Happy Things! On Friday I spent the day at London Zoo as a Keeper for a Day. I had an amazing experience and helped clean out cages, prepared food, fed the giraffes and got a great look behind the scenes at ZSL. Hopefully I will have time to write a full post about my day soon. I’m a huge fan of Orla Kiely so was pleased to hear of a new collaboration with Boots. She’s created two new toiletry scents; energising orange & caraway and…

Happy Monday everyone. I’m having trouble adjusting to the weather at the moment. The winter boots and coats are out and the heating is on! I feel the need for a shopping trip to pick up some more winter woolies. Luckily I have lots to make me smile: I had a fantastic day at The Knitting and Stitching Show on Saturday. My husband kindly looked after the children all day and sent me cute pics of them all enjoying themselves. This meant I was able to enjoy myself, attending workshops, learning about progging and buying lots and lots of lovely…

Ok, I’m a day late due to lack of internet but I really wanted to participate in the Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day! Giveaway Day is their huge biannual event where everyone with a blog can give something away. Don’t forget to check out the Sew, Mama, Sew! blog for all the other giveaways. This year I have some lovely Sewing + Craft Supplies which I bought at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally to give away and I’m happy to ship internationally. The fabric includes: a Japanese Fat Quarter a Fat Quarter of cherry christmas by Aneela…

Not much to show this week. I am trying to finish some little projects and have brought a bag on them on holiday in the hope there will be some sewing time. At last years’ Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally I bought a fat quarter of a fab print by Echino Ni-Co called Camera in turquoise. It features a vintage 35mm camera in repeat and I thought I might make something for my husband who loves taking photographs. That never happened when I realised a fat quarter wouldn’t be enough to wrap around a lens, let alone his…

You may remember last year I attended the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally where I picked up some lovely fabric to make a crawling blanket for my second child. I didn’t know if the bump would be a boy or girl so I tried to pick neutral fabrics. I couldn’t resist london scene by etsuko furuya which literally leaped at me as I passed a stand selling fabric. As well as the main fabric I bought a lime fabric to back the blanket and purple to bind it together. The fabric is gorgeous! It features well-known London landmarks…
