I love having something to celebrate with the whole family and we’ve been busy celebrating The Queen’s 90th birthday for a few weeks now. Last week both children had tea parties at school and my 6 year old keeps sharing everything he has been learning about The Queen, her homes, her children and everything!
At times like this I feel very proud to be British. I think my love of the Royal family has something to do with my Grandparents as I remember my Nan kept a scrapbook of all her favourite newspaper cuttings about the Royal family. I have some lovely family photographs of my mum getting dressed up to celebrate Royal events and the tradition has carried on during my childhood and now my children’s too.
Lots of other things make me proud to be British too. We were sent a little ‘Proud to be British’ gift box from Deramores (who are proud to be British too!). The gift box included tea, because nothing beats a good cup of tea, a jar of marmalade and some fun British icon photo props.
All these things got me thinking about what makes me proud to be British and the traditions we love to celebrate and reinforce in our lives.
Today it rained in London but I think you can’t get more British than doing the school run in the rain. I’m also ready to embrace the British summer of strawberries and cream, cheering on the Brits at Wimbledon, the Boat Race and street parties for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. All these things make me proud to be British. What makes you proud?
Thank you to Deramores for providing the gift box
