Paper plate snowdrop sun catcher

Paper plate snowdrop sun catcher

I absolutely love snowdrops. In fact I love any Spring flower, they are such a welcome sight after the gloom of Winter. We’ve been so excited to spot the snowdrops and crocuses popping up that we thought we would try and re-create the snowdrops at home. We actually spotted our first snowdrops when we visited Barrington Court in December, but now we have spotted them closer to home too.

How to make a paper plate snowdrop sun catcher

First we drew a snowdrop in the middle of the paper plate. We wanted to make quite a simple sun catcher so only drew one, making sure you could see all the parts of it. We’ve been really careful to look at all the snowdrops but not pick any, even though the children really wanted to.

Use sharp scissors or a craft knife and cutting mat to cut away the snowdrop.

Cover the front with contact paper and let your child cover the parts with green and white cellophane pieces. We didn’t have any clear cellophane so just used a small piece of contact paper for the bell shaped flower.

Snowdrops are a really simple flower but I’m glad we made a paper plate snowdrop sun catcher. They always cheer the place up, especially as are coming out of the gloomy winter period.
