Bonfire Night paper origami rockets

Looking for a fun paper craft to celebrate Bonfire Night and all those colourful rockets? Try our paper origami rockets with the kids this year.

List of supplies:
Coloured papers (medium-light weight)
Craft glue
A pair of scissors

How to make paper origami rockets:

Prepare a 4” x 4” square paper for the rocket, 2” x 2” yellow, and 1” x 1” orange paper for the fire part.

Let’s start with the fire pattern. Take the yellow square paper and fold it in half, diagonally.

Mark the middle point of the current pattern’s closed side.

Fold down the right corner and keep at least a cm gap from the open corner.

Similarly, fold the left corner.

Fold the 1-inch paper similarly.

Join the orange folded paper on the top of the yellow pattern to complete the fire pattern.

Take the 4-inch square paper and fold it in half. Unfold.

Fold and align both open sides with the middle crease.

Fold the current pattern in half, horizontally. Unfold.

Fold the bottom open end with the current middle crease.

Unfold the last fold.

Without unfolding the whole piece, carefully open the right side of the pattern. Align the open-side of the inner-right square with the right-side of the middle-crease.

Similarly, fold the left side.

Fold up the pattern along the creases.

Make diagonal creases from the open corners.

Flatten that part with the base pattern.

Turn the current origami pattern to the other side.

Fold the top right and left sides along the vertical middle crease.

Fold the right side of the base pattern along the vertical middle crease.

Fold out the triangle part

Similarly, fold the left side.

Turn the current origami pattern to the other side.

Attach the origami fire pattern to the bottom side of the origami rocket to complete the craft.

Hopefully the instructions are easy to follow and soon you will be able to make your own Bonfire Night paper origami rockets and send them off into the sky.
