I’m excited about the prospect of the Royal Wedding next week. My husband has the day off work and my sister and niece should be coming to stay. I wanted to make something to commemorate the special day and I am proud to present my London cupcakes. I’ve used Union flag cupcake cases and my toppers show famous London landmarks, such as Big Ben, a London taxi cab, a London bus and a Foot Guard. I have to confess I had help with the cupcakes, using the new Betty Crocker chocolate fudge cupcake mix which tasted divine!

I don’t know what’s come over me but I can’t stop hunting out souvenirs of the forthcoming Royal wedding. I blame my grandmother who was a fervent fan of the Royal family and kept scrapbooks of Princess Di! Royal Wedding souvenirs I’ve picked up some great souvenirs including a Royal Wedding keyring from Cath Kidston: I was fortunate to win a limited edition ‘I do’ tea towel by Maria Holmer Dahlgren: I purchased some fabric called Royal Wedding in John Lewis. I’m debating what to make with it as the washing instructions say handwash only. On a recent trip to…

I started my blog back in 2005 and since then have used it to post about my hobbies and life. I quite like reading back through it and seeing how my interests have changed. When I started blogging I would record progress with my family history research but one day I discovered sewing and crafty blogs and never looked back. I hope my blog also reflects my personal life, when I changed from a miss to a mrs and later added the title of mummy to that of wife. I’ve been using my blog header for a while but have…

I scored some amazing bargains in the charity shops of Crouch End for Edward. A lovely wooden Noah’s Ark with all the figures for £4. It’s made by BigJigs and sells for £29.99 so I’m very pleased. A wooden shape sorter. Edward keeps taking the lid off so he’s not quite using it the way you’re meant to but it’s lovely watching him play with it. I bought it for £1. Finally we picked up some vintage Beatrix Potter books for our collection, 50p each. My husband may have *cough* slightly told me off for buying Edward more toys so…

So I’ve been tagged by the lovely Clare to reveal what’s in my fridge. This meme was started by Sally who wondered if the contents of her fridge (or lack thereof) meant she was a bad mother. I’m happy to say we have a rather full fridge which is just the way I like it 🙂 Most importantly there are lots of drinks – beer brought back from our recent trip to Bruges, milk, orange juice, apple juice, orange squash and strawberry milkshake. The second most important things are jars of sauces as no meal is complete without an accompanying…

We’re off to a wedding this weekend which reminds me of our own happy day. We first met in 2001 and got married in 2008. I’m not a big fan of weddings. I dislike big social occasions and think I sang at too many weddings whilst a member of the church choir. The £1 I got for singing seems little compensation for the fact it put me off church weddings for life! A friend took our wedding photographs and I really like this one – especially as it looks as though my husband only has one foot!

1. I bought Edward a lovely pair of walking shoes today. He hasn’t noticed he’s wearing them yet which is a good sign as he kept taking the last pair off! As he was such a good boy at the shoe shop (getting his feet measured and walking around the shop in a couple of pairs of shoes) I spoiled him by buying him some new toys even though he doesn’t need any more. There are lovely independent shops in Crouch End and I bought him a set of wooden animals and an activity book. 2. I have an annoying…

Last week Edward and I were invited to Westfield to learn more about a new partnership between Ella’s Kitchen and the ELC. They are working hard to ensure that everyone is hungry for fun! Every special stage 1 and baby brekkie pouch is currently wearing a bib which gives you 20% off at the Early Learning Centre plus the chance to win £100 worth of toys every day! We were lucky enough to meet the founder of Ella’s Kitchen – Paul Lindley, and we chatted to him about how he came up with the idea of Ella’s Kitchen and how…
