    Are you a power scourer?

Are you a scrubber, a scourer, or a soaker when you do the washing up? I’m a soaker but Vileda are doing their very best to convert me with a new Power scourer range. The new ‘Extra Power’ scourer is for super tough dirt, and the ‘Non-Scratch Power’ scourer has been designed to look after more delicate surfaces. The ‘science’ bit = the new 3D structure with scrubbing nodules provides a better cleaning performance whilst the smart abrasive sealed surface prevents dirt from getting trapped, allowing you to rinse the surface with ease. We’ve been using the new scourers for…

    Monthly Make – May

I had a whopping 107 entries to my Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway. I loved reading everyone’s comments on what they would make with the Royal Wedding fabric and I am pleased to announce the winner is Sallie. Congrats, Sallie! Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas? One of my favourite sewing books is Fa La La Felt and I can’t resist working my way through all the projects. I’ve made a lot of the patterns from it but these little felt gingerbread people really took my fancy! They were quick to make although I need to perfect the…

    Exploring the world

The warmer weather has coincided with Edward finding his feet and we’ve been spending an increasing amount of time outside. For his first birthday we bought him a sandpit to which we soon added a water play table, play tent and pretend lawn mover. Our garden now resembles a playground! Edward loves being outside and will stand at the back door jiggling the handle until I get the message he wants to go outside. http://vimeo.com/24238779   We also love to go out and about when we can. One of our favourite hobbies is geocaching – as long as we pick…

Do you believe in the power of pixie dust?

Today Edward and I were invited to have a look round the new Disney store on Oxford Street which opens to the public tomorrow. Do you believe in the power of pixie dust? The store is 100% bigger than the previous Oxford Street store and is the biggest Disney Store in Europe. Some of the very special features include: A 28 ft high Princess Castle which stands in the centre of the store Approximately 3 tons of pixie dust have been added to the bricks in the Castle to make it more magical! The Cars Ridemakerz experience which allows children…

    Diversify your stash!

I love fabric and was pleased to receive a parcel from Ali as part of the Very Berry Scrap Swap. Fabric, embroidery thread, ceramic buttons and an essential bar of chocolate – thanks Ali! I also put together a little parcel for my partner. I haven’t heard from her but I hope she got it. I even popped in one of my lovely new business cards – which I hope you agree looks very professional! I love participating in swaps, especially fabric swaps. They’re a great way to diversify your fabric stash, especially if you love patchwork as much as…

    HMS Belfast review and giveaway

We were invited to explore the newly opened Operations Room on HMS Belfast, an historic vessel moored on the Thames. The Operations oom area was the nerve centre and brain of the entire ship and new interactives have brought it back to life. We tried our hand on the new interactive experience inspired by the Pony Express, the code name given to a major exercise in which HMS Belfast played a leading role. We gathered round the plotting table for the newly created game which uses simulated radar to show the position of other ships and aircraft involved in the…

In need of a new pushchair

Earlier this year we bought our first Maclaren stroller. I was very excited as I’ve always wanted a Maclaren. We chose the Quest Sport as it was perfect for our needs – lightweight, easy to collapse and fold with one hand (and foot). Ever since we bought it I’ve used it every day and not used my beloved Bugaboo Chameleon. I love my Maclaren! However, only four months on and it’s already past its best… Things I love lightweight, easy to collapse and fold with one hand adequate shopping basket maneoverable with one hand showerproof hood and easy to use…

    Wipe out waste

Did you know that your empty Johnson’s Baby Wipes packs are full of potential? Johnson’s have joined forces with TerraCycle to launch the new ‘Wipe Out Waste’ initiative. The aim is to reduce waste and its impact on the environment, whilst raising money for charity. The packs are upcycled and turned into bibs, mousemats, baby wipes holders or splash mats! Today Edward and I joined a host of other mummy bloggers to learn about this new initiative. Whilst Edward had fun at a tea party I listened to experts from Johnson’s and TerraCycle tell us how the campaign works. Have…

    Vintage thingummyjigs

I have two completely different items to show off this week. The first item I’m very proud of. Can you guess what it is? I found it in a local charity shop for pennies. My husband hates it so won’t let me have it on display but I love it. I didn’t know what its’ purpose was until I saw one on Eastenders. Dot Cotton had one in her kitchen and it is a kitsch string dispenser! When I have the perfect 1950s kitchen I will have it on display. The second item I need your help with. I fell…
