The toddler is a very lucky boy. He was sent a beautiful wooden Zoomster from KidsToyWorld.co.uk to review. With his love of Formula 1 it is the perfect toy for him – it comes in brilliant racing red, and the multi-directional castors mean he can zoom around the house and stash his snacks beneath the seat! He loves sitting on it whilst watching his favourite tv programmes and I love the fact it looks so cool and retro! Finding high quality wooden toys on the high street isn’t easy and Kids Toy World takes the hassle out of your search. As…

Last week was a bit crazy. It started with Edward’s first trip to the cinema, his first photo shoot for Mother & Baby magazine, a trip to the Gurgle blog awards (where I came third in my category and won a £250 Mothercare voucher) and ended with lunch with Elmo. Crazy, amazing and quite tiring for a toddler and a mummy with a big bump. But somehow I managed to squeeze in a trip to the shops. Oops, I couldn’t help myself but I came home with two more vintage jigsaws at the weekend. I just couldn’t resist their round…

One of my favourite activities is baking with Edward. Mixing the ingredients is his speciality! But he also enjoys his role as chief taster 🙂 He was very excited when he heard we had been sent the new range of junior baking products from Renshaw to try for ourselves. Designed with mini bakers in mind, the Juniors range is 100% natural flavours and colours and encourages children to get creative in the kitchen and rustle up edible masterpieces of their own. I baked a batch of simple shortbread and then tried the Magic Melting Icing which, as it says on the container,…

My bump seems to have doubled overnight! At 27 weeks Second Baby is measuring 35.5cm long and weighs over 760g. It’s still really active which is giving me peace of mind as I’m in the middle of a loooong gap between maternity appointments. My last scan was on the 25th July and my next scan appointment is the 15th September followed by an appointment with my consultant the following week. Fortunately I’m keeping happy and healthy so no pregnancy worries at the moment. I’ve noticed a couple of things which are different from my first pregnancy: The second trimester bloom…

Do you know a child who doesn’t like Winnie the Pooh? I have fond childhood memories of the Winnie the Pooh stories so was delighted to be asked to a special screening of the Winnie the Pooh film at Disney HQ yesterday organised by HUGGIES. When we arrived we were greeted by very big models of Pooh, Piglet and Tigger which Edward spent a happy time running around. He’s never still for a second these days so I haven’t uploaded any of the photos I took of him which were all blurred. We were ushered into a screening room for…

I’m a bit of a craft addict and if I didn’t have my hobbies sometimes I think I would go crazy. I love having several projects on the go and at the moment I am planning some appliqued tshirts for Edward, a cot cover/crawling blanket for the Second Baby as well as some fun autumn and Christmas crafts. Unfortunately we don’t have much space for my craft supplies so they are dotted around the gingerbread house until we move somewhere bigger next year. As well as my lovely Cath Kidston sewing basket and shelves of sewing books I have jars…

Edward has suffered from dry skin since birth so we were really excited to try out the new products from E45 which cater for sensitive skin. The range consists of E45 Junior Foaming Bath Milk, E45 Junior Moisturising Lotion and E45 Junior Hand and Body Wash. We’ve been using the products for the last couple of weeks and have really enjoyed them. Fortunately Edward loves bathtime and his bathroom is full of various products we’ve used to try and ease his dry skin. Many baby products contain SLS which really irritates his skin so we were excited to learn that…

It’s been a while since I’ve made any gingerbread biscuits and as a playdate was cancelled yesterday I thought I would bake some. I used a gingerbread cookie mix I bought from John Lewis. The mixture smelt delicious and it was lovely to do some easy baking! You all know what an Orla Kiely freak I am so I thought it would be fun to make my favourite stem print into a template for an icing sugar decoration. Simple but effective. You may wonder why I only managed to photograph one biscuit? Let’s just say I discovered my son shares…

Last week I spent a day slaving over a hot stove preparing a delicious and nutritious meal for my husband – Julia Child’s beef bourguignon. A while ago we sat down and watched the film Julie and Julia. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s based on the blog of Julie Powell who decided to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking (1961) within 364 days. She blogged about her progress which eventually turned into a book, then a film – apparently the first film ever produced from a blog. The film appealed to…
