We’ve carved our pumpkins but they’re already beginning to look a little rough around the edges. This year my 5 year old made a little instruction booklet for my husband, each page has a different step in how to carve a pumpkin, which we both thought was very sweet. My 5 year old insisted on carving a Creeper face into his pumpkin as he’s a huge Minecraft fan. I wanted to make something a little simpler and which lasts a lot longer so I made some sweet fabric pumpkins. They are really simple to make and you can make a…

I posted a few pics of our gingerbread house on Instagram yesterday and got comments saying I was far too early for Christmas! Since when was a gingerbread house just for Christmas? I think they make a pretty good treat for Halloween too as they are really versatile and easy to decorate for any season. Decorating a Halloween gingerbread house As we’re currently in the middle of half term we decorated a gingerbread house as part of our Halloween celebrations. This is always a great activity to do with my children and it kept them occupied all afternoon. It also…

I was completely sold by the email announcing the October Lucky Dip Club Box which had the theme of BISCUITS!, especially as it featured two exclusive designs by Nikki McWilliams including a cool DIY kit. I pretty much signed up as soon as I received the email. I love Nikki McWilliams style. I already have a cool Nikki McWilliams print and I love the bag she designed for Blogtacular. My Biscuit Box arrived this morning and I opened it as soon as my children were occupied for 5 minutes. The box is great and I love everything in it, especially the little DIY. There…

Our half term started with a visit from my lovely Father in Law. It was great to see him and the children loved having him around but to me visitors = cleaning. I’m no domestic goddess at the best of times but visits from family require a deeper clean than I usually do. His arrival coincided with the children finishing school. Whilst they were there I started changing sheets, cleaning bathrooms and dealing with our every day clutter, which mainly consisted of me hiding it under our bed 🙂 I can’t be the only one who does that, right? Anyway,…

My children have been looking forward to going trick or treating for a while. This year it looks like we will be away over Halloween so, to make up for them missing out, I thought I would help them make their own Halloween costumes so we can have a little party whilst we are away. I’ve previously had fun experimenting with Dylon dyes so I thought I would make them costumes. Dylon sent us some plain white costumes along with a selection of Dylon dyes and a colourful Halloween palette for inspiration. When I showed my children the Halloween palette…

How can I not start off my weekly Monday Happy Things post with Parents evening? Now both my children attend the local school I had the pleasure of two parents evenings. It’s always lovely to hear other people saying nice things about your children and they both got glowing school reports. At 3 and 5 they are both young but it’s still great to hear they try their best and enjoy learning new things. They both got new books as a reward ( Little Sis received a set of The Dinosaur Who Pooped books and Big Brother received The BFG…

I know that we are yet to celebrate Halloween but we have been busy thinking about crafts for Bonfire Night too. The other day we experimented with paper plate fireworks and today we wanted to share our cardboard tube rockets. To make cardboard tube rockets you will need: Cardboard tubes Metallic paint and paint brushes Card Star stickers Ribbon Plasticene How to make cardboard tube rockets: We painted our tubes with gold and silver metallic paint. Whilst they were drying we cut circles from cardboard to make the tops, painting them with the gold and silver paint too. When they had…
