No sew bean bags

Posted on January 16, 2015October 5, 2022 by jenny

As much as my children love their toys I’ve found we can often have just as much fun with toys which cost pennies. This week my 4 year old has spent hours on his cardboard box city and today I wanted to share our no sew bean bags with you.

no sew bean bag tutorial

Materials needed to make no sew bean bags:
Duck or duct tape
Craft seal-able bags
Lentils
Scissors

How to make no sew bean bags:

I bought a bag of lentils from my local health shop and divided it into three craft bags. I did this just in case my no sew bean bags split – can you imagine a bag of lentils all over the floor!

Cover each craft bag with colourful duck tape, making sure there are no holes.

Set up a bucket, cupcake tin, or upturned stool (like we did) and challenge your children to try and hit the bucket or throw the bean bag into the cupcake tin. This is a great activity for hand eye co-ordination. I found my 3 year old just loved to throw the bean bags around but my 4 year old really wanted to hit the target and kept trying until he could do it.

We added a couple of lines on the floor with washi tape so they had a line to stand behind and a couple of lines to aim for, with different points for reaching each one.

This is an inexpensive activity but one which they really enjoyed.

Once again I have joined up with some other parent bloggers to share some fun indoor play ideas if the bad weather is keeping you indoors. Check out the other play ideas here: Betsy’s Photography, Growing Book by Book, Creekside Learning, Sight and Sound Reading, Bare Feet on the Dashboard, This Reading Mama, Study at Home Mama & What do we do all day?

Wow what a brilliant idea! I remember playing with these when I was little and I’d completely forgotten how much fun they are 🙂

Ah BRILLIANT! I have my nephew for a week or so this month and so this is the perfect idea for me to do things with him. Now I just need to buy some awesome duct tape!

I buy mine from Hobbycraft but I’ve seen it in supermarkets too. There are so many pretty colours to choose from!
