Tree Fu Tom is a magical and interactive action adventure CG animated pre-school series which follows a young boy called Tom who can use Movement Magic (‘Tree Fu’) to transform in to a tiny but mighty magical superhero and travel to Treetopolis, an enchanted world in a tree at the bottom of his garden.
Last week we were lucky enough to catch the popular CBeebies’ hero at his first ever live show at Westfield London. Called ‘Tree Fu Go!’ little fans were able to help Tom and his friends save the day in an action-packed adventure in the magical world of Treetopolis.
My 3 year old really enjoyed it and the fun continued as he’s also been playing the very first Tree Fu Tom App Tree Fu Tom 3D Adventures (which is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch). The app uses ground-breaking SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) augmented reality technology, that allows users to fly Tom and Twigs in real world surroundings.
You can launch Tom and his sidekick Twigs into the real world for highly interactive game play and magical augmented reality fun. The app allows children to make their favourite characters take to the skies, leafboard across the room, land on objects, talk and do Movement Magic all in their own environment. By allowing Tom to ‘magically’ appear in their own world the app encourages pre-schoolers to use their imaginations through creative play and storytelling.
The app features three thrilling games designed to extend user engagement whilst helping children develop their movement and coordination skills.
The games are:
Nectar Collector: Users have to help the bees gather honey against their own world backdrop.
Slimeweed Defence: Users have to tilt their device to defend themselves against the slime-spitting weeds.
Aphid Rescue: Children first trace their finger around the pattern to activate the ‘Super Net Go Spell’ then touch left and right on the screen to bounce the baby aphids on the Net and give them a soft landing.
The Tree Fu Tom 3D Adventure App is available for £2.99 from App Store on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch or at the app store.
