Our house has one little girl who has recently discovered the magical world of fairies. We don’t get to do much crafting thanks to her older, louder brother, so I thought it would be fun to make something together.
We had some cardboard clothes cartons leftover from our house move so flattened one to use the cardboard. Little Sis lay down and we drew a rough shape round her for wings. We cut them out and painted them with red paint.
Whilst the paint was drying we made a very special fairy wand. We raided the craft cupboard for corrugated cardboard and found a stick in the garden. I cut a star shape from the cardboard in two sizes and stuck them together with lots of Scotch tape from my handy desk grip dispenser.
When the paint had dried on the wings Little Sis got to work with the Scotch double sided sticky tape, sticking lots of star shapes to the back of her wings (these I had pre-prepared so she didn’t get bored waiting).
The final step was to add some ribbon to attach it to the real life fairy before she fluttered off to play. This is where the story ends because the fairy didn’t want her wings. Instead her older brother wore them and loved them!
We had a good old chat about fairies, magic wands and how to fly. His first wish was popcorn for everyone! I think he made us all happy with that one.

What a great idea! Big Brother looks very sweet as a fairy too. Thanks for joining in with the summer play linky!
