Today we were invited to see Peaceful Lion Productions present an adaptation of Nadia Shireen’s ‘Hey, Presto!’ for children aged 3 to 8 and their adults at the Pleasance Islington. Peaceful Lion Productions are a small company with big ambitions, and love putting on shows that appeal to parents and children alike – with a dab of spectacle for good measure.
Their new Christmas production is, Hey, Presto! which began on the 4th of December (and runs until the 21st December). We’ve only ever taken them to the theatre once before and thought this would be a lovely treat for them.
Hey, Presto! is a very special story about the meaning of friendship, and is a really wonderful show. Presto, the cat, is a very talented magician, so when he and his friend Monty, the dog, join a funfair and start a magic show things look good for the duo. But fame goes to Monty’s head and soon Presto loses his friend and his show! Will true friendship prevail? And will there be a touch of magic in the air?
A heart-warming tale of aspiration, friendship, adventure and a little bit of mischief accompanied by catchy songs, this is the perfect treat for young children.
The performance ran for 45 minutes and both my children really enjoyed it. It’s a small theatre with a cosy atmosphere and the story really kept them entertained (as did the magic!). We would definitely recommend a performance of Hey, Presto! for a Christmas treat. The nearest tube to the Pleasance is Caledonian Road and more information about the production and ticket information can be found on their website.
