It’s just not Christmas without a gingerbread house or two. We’re planning on building our annual gingerbread house this weekend, it’s a fun tradition which the whole family enjoy. We love a gingerbread house craft too and wanted to share our gingerbread house craft for kids. It’s made of card and decorated with colourful balls. It will make a wonderful addition to any decor this season.
Gingerbread house craft supplies:
Brown card
Styrofoam balls – both coloured and white
White poster colour
Paint brush
Pencil or pen – for tracing the free template
Scissors
Craft glue or glue stick
Card gingerbread house craft for kids {with free printable}
1 Select brown coloured card for this craft and prepare the patterns from the template by printing and cutting them out. Trace the free template patterns using a pencil, on the selected card. The template includes 2 patterns, 1 for the roof and 1 for the house.
2 Use poster colour to paint borders, door and windows on the front side of the house cut out. Allow the paint to dry after the painting is done.
3 Fold the house cut out. Follow the lines inside the house template pattern for folding it. Fold along the shown lines.
4 Apply glue along the extra thin part of the house pattern and attach it with the part next to it to close all 4 sides of the house.
5 Take the roof cut out. Paint borders and tile patterns on the roof. Paint any pattern you want and once the painting is done allow it dry.
6 After the painting dries fold the roof cut out into half along the traced line shown in the template.
7 Apply glue and join the roof on the top side of the house.
8 Take the white and coloured Styrofoam balls. Carefully cut the Styrofoam balls into half.
9 Glue the half cut Styrofoam balls on the house (and roof) to decorate it.
10 Decorate the borders of the roof and the sides of the house.
11 Keep adding the decorations until you are happy (or there is no more space!).
Allow the glue to dry and admire your finished gingerbread house decoration.
