I’ve been so lucky to receive a couple of new craft books to review recently. Last week I told you about the Unofficial Bridgerton Embroidery book. This week I’m sharing Easy Embroidery Embellishment: learn to customise your clothes with simple stitch techniques. If you love spending time on Instagram browsing for the latest craft trends, then you may recognise the author Jenny Billingham as Flynn and Mabel on Insta where she shares many of her embroidery projects.
Easy Embroidery Embellishment
Transform your wardrobe and elevate your style sustainably – no experience needed! Learn how to personalise your clothes and accessories with beautiful, beginner-friendly designs.
Featuring an introduction to embroidery stitches and over 30 embroidery projects with step-by-step photos and instructions to ensure embellished success! Projects include: adding flowers to your hats, monogramming your favourite hoodie or stitching playful patterns to your sneakers.
The projects are laid out with clear instructions and plenty of photos. I decided to try and over up a mark on a white t-shirt by adding a sashiko pattern over the top.
This only took 10 minutes and hid the mark really well. I can’t wait to try more of the projects in the book and transform my wardrobe.
Jenny Billingham is the embroidery artist behind the brilliant @flynn_and_mabel. A self-taught embroidery artist, she began experimenting with simple stitches and embroidery designs just before the pandemic. She now creates hoop art and embroidery patterns for her over two million instagram followers.
Easy Embroidery Embellishment: learn to customise your clothes with simple stitch techniques by Jenny Billingham is published by quarto priced £16.99.

This review beautifully highlights how approachable and creative the Easy Embroidery Embellishment book is, especially for crafters of all levels. I appreciate how you walked through the projects with such enthusiasm, it really made me want to pick up a needle and try it myself! Thanks for the thoughtful insights and for sparking a new hobby idea!
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been trying to do these for my towels and it has not been going so well. Will look up this book. On the cover, it has this photo of embroidery on jeans, that’s something I look forward to trying.
