Edward is a geek already! He loves playing with our iPhones and iPad so we’re always on the lookout for new apps to amuse him. At 20 months he’s learned how to unlock the home screen to look at photographs of himself. He’s equally happy to take photos too!
We were asked to try out the new app from DK, My First Word Play which has been designed for pre-schoolers, the design matching the iconic My First books.
The app features: 4 x My First Word games: Letter Match, Phonic Fun, Rhyme Time and Word Painter; Interactive A-Z dictionary and Magnets – all with handy hints to help your child complete the game with illustrations, animations and sound effects.
Edward is too young to be able to use the app himself but we’ve been using it with him. My favourite bit is the dictionary which shows a word and corresponding picture on the screen (with sounds effect!). This is a great way to learn new words and improve Edward’s vocabulary.
Daddy has been enjoying some creative finger painting with Edward in the word painter section. So much cleaner than our normal arts and crafts activities!
We all really like this app. It’s simple to use, a great educational resource but fun too.
