Yesterday I read an article about Disney’s Cinderella Exhibition Presented By Swarovski. Straight away I booked some tickets to the free exhibition as my daughter loves Cinderella and we’re going to see the film next week.
Disney’s Cinderella Exhibition is the official exhibition of costumes and props from the new film, which is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden and Helena Bonham Carter.
The tour takes you on a journey through five multi-sensory zones including a Cinderella heritage gallery, Cinderella’s home, Fairy Godmother’s Transformation, the Grand Ballroom, and a Modern Day Princess Gallery.
We were able to see over 100 props from the film and over 30 of the exquisite costumes designed by costume designer Sandy Powell.
We walked through the pumpkin cum carriage to the Grand Ballroom which was our favourite room. There were lots of amazing costumes on display in this room and I can’t wait to see the film after this sneak preview.
We were also excited to see one of the iconic glass slippers. Made from solid crystal and feature 221 light-reflecting facets. Swarovski also provided over 1.7 million finely cut crystals which were used to embellish the costumes such as Cinderella’s ball gown and the Fairy Godmother’s wand. Apparently Swarovski also loaned over 150 tiaras to bring extra sparkle to the ballroom scenes.
We had a fabulous time and it’s definitely worth popping in to see if you can pick up a ticket. The exhibition is on at Leicester Square Gardens from 21st March – 10th April 2015. More information can be found here.
