Day Trips with Toddlers: What You Need to Bring for a Relaxed Day Out

Posted on January 24, 2023October 18, 2024 by jenny

Getting your children outdoors is very good for them, with the NCT outlining how it helps improve their sleep and motor skills, and encourages a healthy lifestyle. Whether you are visiting Ham House and Garden or spending a day in London, planning a day out with your kids may seem like a fun and enjoyable idea, but many parents know that these outings can often pose quite a challenge once the day comes. Often these excursions can become exhausting, with parents and children worn out as they try and fit as much into the day as they can. This is why parents should look to invest in a few key items that will make any day trip out a breeze.

Sturdy shoes

It pays to wear the right shoes if you’re doing a lot of walking, especially if you are outdoors and off the beaten track. Proper walking boots for your toddler will keep them comfortable and help prevent any injuries. The walking boots from Drift show how durable and waterproof shoes can give your child the freedom and comfort they need for walking and running on any terrain. With shoes like their junior waterproof boots, you don’t have to worry about your child getting a little dirty or how they might be faring on more rugged ground; they’ll be comfortable throughout your trip.

A multi-terrain pushchair

Being constantly on the move during your outing can take a toll on your toddler’s boundless energy, so having a good pushchair on hand is a good idea, especially if you have more than one child. A sturdy pushchair should be an investment and you can purchase models that are designed for both urban and rural terrains.  iCandy’s double pushchairs for toddlers  demonstrate how modern designs come with multi-wheel functionality, allowing parents to switch between three and four wheels. Investing in a multi-terrain pushchair will ensure that you always have a support system no matter the type of trip you go on. Modern designs can also be converted to into a full travel system with many coming with car seat adapters, making them ideal for long journeys.

Raincoats or waterproof jackets

Many famous attractions are outdoors, so if you want to explore these sights and places, having a raincoat or waterproof jacket can help keep the fun going even amidst light showers. In fact, you can even make the trip more fun by allowing your children to get wet and have fun in the rain. Outerwear such as Regatta’s Unisex Puddle Suit will keep your little one dry while still providing comfort. It allows them to have a lot of fun splashing in the mud and puddles while keeping their clothes dry. This way you don’t have to worry about the laundry when you get home.

Going on day trips is an important part of any childhood. For more ideas do check out our Days Out page.

I definitely agree with all these, plus snacks and drinks and limitiing them to one of their treasures that they have to take with them. You definitely have to think more before headingg our with toddlers
