Story stones are a great way to introduce the idea of story telling at home. We always collect smooth beach pebbles when we are at the beach and these are perfect for story stones. My drawing skills are pretty bad so I glue pictures to the stones and they last for ages. Previously we have made Gruffalo Story Stones and our favourite, the Gingerbread Man Story Stones. After the noise and expense of Halloween and Bonfire Night I look forward to the quiet contemplation of Remembrance Day. It’s not hugely commercial, nor should it be. Remembrance Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifice of the past and I am so proud to remember the contribution my Great Uncle made during the First World War. As much as I am looking forward to the School holidays I have been thinking how to help my children having the dreaded brain drain. They have had their Class Swap morning at school and know who their new teachers and class mates will be. This will be a slightly different Summer for us as my husband is currently in hospital. Sometime last year I won a subscription to Twinkl. If you haven’t heard of it it’s an amazing website for primary teaching resources. I’ve been using it to print out worksheets and colouring pages for my children and just get lots of ideas to help them with their learning journey. The website is really easy to navigate and you can search the resources by Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2 or SEN.
