New app for Gruffalo fans – Gruffalo Games

As you know we are huge fans of the Gruffalo which is why I wanted to share the news of the first ever Gruffalo: Games mobile app with you. Launched this week, my children have already spent far too much time playing with the app so I think it’s going to be a big hit. The Gruffalo: Games app, by Magic Light Pictures, is based on the much-loved picture book, The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The games are based on traditional and well-known children’s games that everyone will be familiar with, including snap, three-in-a-row,…

Who Do You Think You Are? Story

When I originally started my blog back in the dark ages, otherwise known as 2005, I wrote about all kinds of things from London life to researching my family history. It’s been one of my hobbies since I was at school and it’s grown substantially over the years, so much so that I started a family history blog for my research. I love how much easier it has become to research your family history. I used to spend my lunch hours at the old Family Records Centre or my weekends at the National Archives in Richmond. With large-scale digitisation projects…

Peppa Pig on demand with NOW TV

A couple of weeks ago we were invited to the recently opened Ham Yard Hotel in Soho for a fun family morning with NOW TV as they celebrated Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. joining NOW TV in time for summer. The children enjoyed some really fun activities, including colouring, face painting, eating delicious cakes and of course, watching NOW TV. My little pre-schoolers adore Nick Jr so I was excited to learn more about NOW TV. Basically NOW TV is a media streaming service which doesn’t require a contract. All you need is an HDMI-equipped TV, an internet connection and the…

My 4 year old has a My Pal Scout whilst my 2 year has her very own Violet. They really enjoy these kind of interactive toys which is why I was happy to try out the latest addition to the range, Leapfrog Read With Me Scout (there’s a Read With Me Violet too), a cute interactive plush puppy designed…

Fun with the new Woolly and Tig app

Over the last couple of days my children have been trying out the new Woolly and Tig app featuring Woolly, the loveable cuddly spider from the hit CBeebies show. They love all things Woolly and Tig and the app is a welcome respite from Christmas right now 🙂 My 3½ year old is very app savvy so whenever he hears we have a new app to test will grab my iPad and happily sit and play with it. He loves the app and this has really kept his attention. It’s not difficult to see why. There are multiple ways to…

The game features brilliant 3D graphics with the player able to rotate the dog to style from all angles to really get creative! This clip…

Portable North Pole Santa Sprint app

A couple of years ago I discovered the Portable North Pole where you can make your own personalised message from Santa. I just loved the idea and was just a little obsessed with the message we made for our son. At 3 years old he is very interested in Christmas (today he has been writing his Christmas list) so we will definitely be doing it again for both the children this year. The people behind the Portable North Pole have recently launched their first Santa approved game for 2013: PNP Santa Sprint for iPhone and iPad. You can enjoy the…
