We’ve finally been able to leave London behind and visit family and friends in Devon. We come a couple of times each year so always have our favourite places to re-visit around Exeter. This year we stayed in a fab hotel in central Exeter which was a great base for exploring the city. The weather has been perfect so we spent a fun afternoon down by the Quay as well as walking around the Cathedral, City walls and historic buildings. On our first day we discovered a colourful life-sized painted rhino and quickly realised this was a really fun public…

It’s hot and mostly sunny which means we’ve been getting through a lot of ice cream this school holidays. The children have had ice pops, ice creams and lollies. Everybody has their favourite type but we have a soft spot for Kelly’s of Cornwall. Nothing beats the magical mixture of velvety smooth Cornish ice cream topped with scrumptious extras. We always have a tub in the freezer so were delighted to be asked to create our dream sundae – bringing the ultimate parlour experience into our home. We were sent a sundae starter kit including Kelly’s Ice Cream vouchers, Clarks new…

So far this summer we’ve been enjoying a Staycation. My husband has been recuperating after an operation so we have been exploring our local area which makes a nice change. The weather has been a bit of a mixed bag but we’ve had some really hot days and we’re looking forward to the mini heatwave which has been predicted this week. Whether holidaying at home or abroad good sun protection is a must. The children have been out in the sun a lot and our sand pit and paddling pool have had a lot of use. We’ve been keeping safe…

As much as I am looking forward to the School holidays I have been thinking how to help my children having the dreaded brain drain. They have had their Class Swap morning at school and know who their new teachers and class mates will be. This will be a slightly different Summer for us as my husband is currently in hospital. He will be out of action for a good few weeks so we will be staying local for most of the holidays. I’ve been looking for ways to stop the Summer brain drain as they have both learned so…

We really are on a count down to the Summer holidays now. The children have a few weeks left and the calendar is filled with parents’ evening, class swap days and (my least favourite day of the year) Sports Day. Whether you’re at home or abroad you may be on the look out for some things to keep your children occupied. On our recent trip on the cruise ship Ventura I packed a few little craft kits in our suitcase. They really didn’t take up much room and were perfect for that crafty fix my children seem to need on…

This is the first year that my little 4 year old has heard about festivals. When we were on the Isle of Wight recently we saw them getting ready for the Isle of Wight Festival which surely marks the start of summer. Her older cousin was going so Little Sis was getting excited about festivals in general. Just in time to help us celebrate with some festival vibes at home and the Bratz Festival Vibes collection. She was so happy to receive one of five brand new Bratz dolls, who came complete with two super cool festival outfits, accessories, and…

My 6 year old came home from school on Friday, proudly telling me how many days were left until the School holidays. I admit this filled me with dread as I haven’t really started thinking about the Summer holidays just yet. We will be spending much of the school holidays at home as my husband isn’t very well. This means I will be researching for days out close to home and looking for ways to keep my children occupied at home. One thing I’m really keen to achieve this summer is for my 4 year old to enjoy cycling more. She…

We’re enjoying half term but I have to be honest and say we’re already thinking about the wonderfully long Summer holidays. Fireman Sam, the ultimate Hero Next Door, has recently launched a nationwide campaign to highlight the importance of keeping safe this summer, in partnership with Child Safety Week which runs from 6th– 12th June. This is an annual initiative run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) to raise awareness of child-related accidents and how they can be prevented. The campaign is aimed at teaching children and parents about summer safety including how to be safe around water while…

We love making sun catchers. They are simple but fun and we now have sorted out the best way to make them, for us. My children love pre-cut templates and I took a pack with us when we went to the beach last week (see the DIY sandcastle flags we made too!). In a quiet moment I took them out. I had cut some pieces of contact paper and packed them along with the black card cut outs, cellophane pieces and scissors. Beach hut sun catchers My 6 year cut the cellophane sheets into strips. I placed their sun catchers…
