We were asked if we would like to try teething bling. It’s a great name which hooked me immediately to find out more. A little package duly arrived which I excitedly opened and found contained the loveliest, if unusual, necklace which was beautifully packaged. Teething bling has been designed to help babies who love to grab and chew whilst they are teething. As Edward only has 6 teeth this has been a useful aid. It is produced as a necklace or bangle and means you don’t have to stop wearing jewellery whilst your child is teething. When I gave it…

Silver Spring have launched a new spring water especially designed for children with the aim of encouraging them to keep hydrated. Apparently only 6% of children drink their recommended daily allowance of water. The bottles feature three designs: Angelina Ballerina, Firemen Sam and Bob the Builder. Edward received the Firemen Sam and Bob the Builder bottles to try. At 14 months old I struggle to get him to drink during the day. He has a variety of cups for water and apart from his two bottles of milk a day seems to drink very little water. I gave him a…

Have you heard of the exclusive Norland Nannies? For over a century they have cared for the children of royalty and celebrities. Nanny in a book sells itself as the next best thing to a Norland Nanny, offering a handbook to parents full of top tips and personal advice. I was keen to review this book. With my family far away and many of my friends childless, it is often difficult to know where to turn for advice. The internet lacks the personal touch and I wondered how a book written by nannies would compare. I read the book from…

The new Style range from Vileda is surprisingly contemporary and doesn’t look out of place in any modern kitchen. Someone has finally designed a dish cloth to look as good as all my lovely Cath Kidston towels. The dish cloth is also super absorbent, can be used for washing up and wiping, long lasting and can be hand washed or machine washed! I ‘ll be the first to admit it’s a long time since I bought a dish cloth, in fact I never have. I’ve relied on a scourer to wash the dishes and wipe surfaces clean. However, I’ve been…

We were given the chance to try the new Annabel Karmel iPhone app called ‘Annabel’s Essential Guide to Feeding your Baby and Toddler’. I love my iPhone and I enjoy cooking for Edward so this was a perfect opportunity for me to try something new! My iPhone is stuffed full of apps to entertain Edward but just occasionally he lets me use it. I have a couple of recipe apps as I find them perfect for flicking through for inspiration when I’m short of time. The Annabel Karmel app has 100 recipes which have been helpfully split into sections for…

I was recently sent a copy of You and Your Bump to review. I had never heard of the author, Emma Cannon, but she is a leading complementary fertility specialist. You and Your Bump has been written as a companion for pre-conception, pregnancy and the postnatal period. It differs from other pregnancy guides as it blends the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine with conventional Western medical practice. There is plenty of advice to help mums-to-be prepare for labour and post-birth and solutions to pregnancy-related conditions. You and Your Bump gently takes you through each stage of your pregnancy with advice…

Annabel Karmel, the UK’s top parenting author on feeding babies and children, has just launched Annabel Karmel’s Organic Fresh Baby Purées. Edward loves trying new foods so we were sent Scrumptious Butternut Squash, Carrot and Salmon and My First Vegetable and Beef Casserole to try. They come in little pots so you can be sure the portion size is just right and the pots can be heated in the microwave. The pots can also be re-used when you make your own foods. The purees are meant for 6 months onwards and as Edward has a healthy toddler appetite I added…

Mama Tea produce a range of natural caffeine-free herbal tea – three of them (Glowing, Morning and Cool) are suitable throughout pregnancy while Ready and New Mama are suitable just before and after birth. I was sent a box of each tea to try out and the first thing I was impressed with was how beautifully they were presented. The boxes were wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon – this always makes me happy if a product looks good! I have tried the three teas suitable for early pregnancy. morning mama This is a subtle blend of ginger root,…

There’s a new glossy magazine aimed at modern mum’s just like me and you. It’s called Gurgle and available exclusively in Mothercare stores, Early Learning Centres, or via subscription. So what do you get for the princely sum of £2? I was sent the first copy to review and I loved it. It is packed full of advice on parenting and tips for family life, fashion must-haves, food, travel and celebrity news. I had a good read from cover to cover and will be passing it round my circle of mum friends. Things I liked: appealing front cover fresh layout…
