Pattern is not a trend for me, to be taken up one minute and abandoned the next when the winds of fashion change. Pattern is in me. Pattern is my life.’ Orla Kiely 2010 I’m a huge Orla Kiely fan and this is my perfect book. It wasn’t until I read it that I realised just how her print and patterns have permeated my life. Every time I turned a page I saw a different print which reminded me of a handbag, wallet or ticket holder I’d bought or received as a gift. It’s strange how I can chart my…

It’s been a while since I posted an update on my Day Zero progress as Christmas and New Year took over normal service. However I’ve managed to tick off a few more goals: The big decision was made about returning to work and we found a great little nursery for Edward I bought a new Orla Kiely handbag (a treat for the decision above) We’ve been watching a new film every month, mainly cheesy flicks but also An Education which I really enjoyed I’ve been busy cooking and this month I tried a new recipe – stovies I booked driving…

I’ve been tagged by Cheryl to reveal 7 things about myself. 1. I once served Michael Buerk canapes. It was at a fundraising event at the Royal Albert Hall and the highlight of my evening 🙂 2. History has always been my greatest passion and I studied Ancient History and Archaeology followed by Museum Studies at Uni. Before maternity leave I was found looking after bedpans, medals and uniform in the role of curator for an NGO. 3. I have an unhealthy obsession with Orla Kiely handbags, bedding and stationary. I work in the City and used to see Orla…

One of my wishes for 2011 is to learn to drive and I have found the ultimate carrot on a stick: Yes, your eyes do not deceive you, this Citroen DS3 has been designed with a bit of help from Orla Kiely. It’s an eco-friendly car, with just 500 being produced and it’s due to be launched in February 2011. The car features her olive acorn design painted on the exterior, colored and hand-stitched headrests in her signature flower pattern for the interior, and acorn print carpet mats. Check out the lamp on the dash board! Swoon. I am so…

Ok, so I had to visit three Tesco stores but I finally got my hands on an Orla Kiely Scribble Pear design reuseable shopping bag. I mentioned back in November that Orla Kiely has designed a range of bags exclusively for Tesco. They are made of juco (a material technology that combines jute with cotton). The bag is lovely and strong and cost £4. The Scribble Pear design is the first in the range. For each bag sold a contribution of 50p of the sale price of each bag will be divided equally and paid to CLIC Sargent Cancer Care…

Orla Kiely, has created an exclusive range of reusable shopping bags to raise funds for charity. The limited edition, collectable bags will launch exclusively through Tesco this December. CLIC Sargent is Tesco Charity of the Year 2010 and the aim of the partnership is to raise £5 million to help fund specialist children’s nurses across the UK, so children with cancer can spend more time at home. The Orla Kiely bags will retail at only £4, with fifty pence from each sale divided equally between CLIC Sargent and Orla’s personal charity. I can’t wait to get my hands on a special…

Ooooh, a lovely new product from Orla Kiely! Fortunately I CAN resist this beautiful new EVOKE Mio by Orla Kiely because I already have a lovely Cath Kidston digital radio. However, loyal readers will know that I can’t pass up an opportunity to feature the latest Orla Kiely product (even if I don’t need it myself!). The radio is the latest product in the Orla Kiely home ware range and features her popular stem print design. It has a scary number of features which include digital and FM radio, an input for your iPod/MP3 player, Intellitext and textSCAN, an…

I’m a hoarder and I’m not afraid to admit it! This is why my job as a curator is perfect as it allows me to collect, catalogue and keep for ever! I’ve always kept momentoes of events – I have boxes full of ticket stubs as well as photographs, programmes and keepsakes. When we got married two years ago I squirreled away a selection of items to remind me of our wedding day – a programme, an invite, some wedding cake, a thank you card, as well as our official wedding album and guest book. I knew I wanted to…
