To me summer means putting my feet up and trying to catch some of the Summer Olympics on tv. Although I’m not sporty or particularly competitive I just love the Olympics and watching the best sports people from around the world competing. I also think it’s a good way for my children to learn more about sports, different countries and hopefully inspire them too. I can’t miss an opportunity for seasonal crafting so have brought together 11 of the best Olympic crafts and activities for kids to celebrate the Games of the XXXI Olympiad: Easy tennis cupcakes Flag rock featuring…

My children are so sporty and I really don’t know where they get it from (clearly not me!). This week they are having fun at Super Camp and it sounds like they are playing all sorts of different games which have inspired me to make these DIY gold winners trophies. I’m really hoping they will want to sit and watch some of the Olympics with me when it starts. I enjoy watching sports and I’m quite enjoying the summer of sports and it’s definitely influencing our crafting. The warm weather has been perfect for our latest craft which I wanted…

A few weeks ago we got our FIMO collection out for some after school crafting. We wanted to have a go at making our own FIMO winners’ medals – fun for both Sports Day and Olympic crafting. The kids love FIMO Kids as you can use it straight out of the packet, there’s no need to knead it in your hands before you use it. My children are both impatient but also lack those fine motor skills so this is a great product for them. How to make a FIMO winners’ medal We picked our colours and rolled out the…

We’re surrounded by sporting events at the moment which has had a great influence on our crafting. So far this year we’ve had Euro 2016, Wimbledon and the Tour de France 2016 and we’ve still got many more to come. Did you know that athletes in ancient games didn’t receive medals like they do today? Instead they received a wreath crown made of olive tree leaves, or later from the leaves of a bay laurel. I thought we should try and make our own paper version so today we’re sharing our paper plate laurel wreath craft for kids. Paper plate…

With The Queen’s official birthday celebrations taking place over the next few days in London, I thought I would make some special Union flag inspired bunting. How to make Union flag bunting I used the Sizzix Bigz Plus Die – Bunting (661173) which features two different bunting flag shapes, and Limited Edition Union Flag (Union Jack) Duck Tape. I love crafting with Duck Tape and this is a great way to make some bunting which should last through the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, Euro 2016, Wimbledon and the Olympics. You can find my full tutorial over on the Sizzix blog today. You may…

Are you excited about the Winter Olympic Games which start in Sochi this week? I love watching all the different sports so I’m hoping to catch some of the action, can’t wait to see what my 3 year old makes of it all. We were talking about it this morning and he wanted to take part, think he’ll be waiting a couple more years for that! When London hosted the Olympics we were lucky enough to watch the synchronised swimming at the Aquatics Centre. We had an amazing day out and found it all really child-friendly. We also enjoyed making…

On the 19 September 2010 I started a Day Zero list: a place to record your goals, discover new challenges, and gain motivation to achieve them. I have a list of 100 things I want to do over 1001 days. The list is due to be competed by 16 June 2013. Over the last two months we’ve been so busy. It feels like I’ve ticked off a lot of my goals and my progress is slowing down. I’ve managed the following: 20.
