I love picking up a few special decorations every year to add to our Christmas box. The children pretty much dictate the decorations and the tree but I like to add a few grown up pieces too. I love planning the colour scheme and can spend hours looking around shops as well as online to find new things I love. Wooden Fairy Lights Wreath Wooden decorations also appeal to me so I was delighted to discover Create Gift Love, who make personalised, beautiful and unique gifts for every occasion. All their products are handmade for your loved-ones in the New Forest,…

My children have all kinds of fun ideas for Christmas crafts at the moment. I am trying to rein them back a little as we still have a few weeks to go but I love the fact they are excited for Christmas (I am too!). We picked up some really fun fillable baubles from our local craft shop and I knew they would be perfect for making our own hanging ornaments. We used them for Reindeer nose ornaments! I have the biggest stash of washi tape. A few years ago I was obsessively collecting it and using it for all sorts of crafts but I haven’t used it for a while. I thought it was about time we tried to use it up and came up with some fun washi tape baubles which are perfect for adding to Christmas cards for the perfect kid-made Christmas cards. We’ve kept our Easter decorations really simple this year. We have our white seasonal tree up and it’s decorated with clear plastic eggs filled with pastel coloured pom poms and mini eggs. I found some ceramic eggs in the craft shop and thought these would be a great addition to our tree. They came in a little kit with some paint but I kew they would look much better if I decorated them with temporary tattoos instead. To tattoo Easter eggs you will need ceramic or polystyrene eggs, temporary tattoos, water and a brush. How to make temporary tattoo Easter…

Earlier this year I made my daughter a lovely Liberty quilt. She keeps it on her bed and I’m so happy she loves it, if she didn’t I would quite happily put it on my bed instead. My 5 year old son keeps asking if I can make him something as “you’re always making stuff for her” as he puts it. Little did he know that I was planning on making something for him too. Since Star Wars Episode VII came out he has turned into the biggest Star Wars fan. His birthday is coming up next month so I…

I have the sweetest little DIY to share with you today. I love to keep an eye on the latest trends and couldn’t resist popping a couple of rolls of Duck Tape into my basket at the weekend. I love Duck Tape and they are always bringing out seasonal colours and patterns which I can’t resist. Their latest range is perfect for Spring with a range of pretty pastel colours including rolls of Marshmallow, Lilac Lily and Sage & Thyme. I feel that Spring is on its way and have been enjoying watching my pretty hyacinths grow. It came in…

Adult colouring books were definitely the big thing in 2015. I have a shelf of them myself and a lovely collection of colouring pens, which the children know they are not allowed to touch! It looks like the trend will be continuing this year and I’m excited to share three new books and a new art therapy series from Anastasia Catris, the creator of #ColourMeMindful. Misplacing your wallet, forgetting where you parked your car, or getting your friend’s birthday wrong: these are just some of the many common memory slips we all experience from time to time. And such cognitive…

From buttons on clothes to upholstery buttons, there are many ways in which buttons can be matched to fabrics, some more creative than others. The colour, shape and size of your buttons can all contribute to the overall look of the item. As far as clothes are concerned, the colour of the buttons is usually matched to the colour of the fabric. Even so, a button is a brilliant way to individualise your clothes. A rule of thumb is that for female clothing, small and dainty buttons are usually the best match, while for tailored clothing, a clean and shiny…

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more. I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to try something new with each of the cover gifts. Issue 62 of Mollie Makes came with a cool Mollie Makes Paper Gems Kit designed by Minieco. It contained a scary looking wooden template and 10 pretty papers. Tonight I sat down and attempted to make a paper gem. I read through the instructions and decided to cut out…
