    Still tired

How can it be only tuesday? I am so tired as it’s really busy at work at the moment. This evening I finally re-potted my basil, coriander and rocket. They looked cute and healthy in my mini greenhouse, but tiny and helpless in their new seed tray home. I wonder if they’ll survive and grow or if I’ll have to pick them and eat them sooner. Not quite the intensive herb farming I was imagining, inspired by Raymond Blanc’s renowned Manoir aux Quatr’ Saisons.

    Tired!

I can’t believe another weekend is over. It’s gone far too quickly. Today we drove up to Crew’s Hill and visited numerous garden centres, recommended to us by our neighbour, Mary. We didn’t buy anything as we’re still deciding what we want decking, paving, lawn, whatever… We finally finished watching Lost season 2 which was a relief. Now just several episodes of 24 to watch… hopefully before we head off to the country next weekend. Just five days of work to get through first.

    Ground in the garden

I have a poorly boyfriend who has the flu but that hasn’t stopped us from shopping at Exmouth Market this afternoon. Apparently Labour are worried that they haven’t addressed the huge divide between rich and poor in this country since they’ve been in control, illustrated in the…

    Cleaned out!

Right now I am all cleaned out. We have spent the day finishing off loads of half finished projects, so we have filled holes, painted walls, chopped up trees, cleared the garden and cleaned the house from top to bottom. I take great pleasure in cleaning bits of the house that were clearly never touched by the previous occupants. I have gone through many cleaning wipes and I look forward to enjoying sitting down and admiring my nice clean house.

    Composting

Today we are feeling very proud of ourselves. We have ordered our first compost bin to recycle all our kitchen waste from here. Apparently it takes 6-12 months to turn into something good enough to actually use…. I’ll have to make sure I don’t get bored trudging to the bottom of the garden with my vegetable peelings and egg shells! Robin finally put the washing line up so at last we can hang the washing out. This is a good thing and was one of the reasons we wanted a house with a garden.
