I’m so excited that we only have a few days left until the Easter holidays start. I always enjoy shopping for Easter gifts for my family. Every year I try and put an Easter basket together for my children. I’ve already bought the chocolate gifts but like to add a few alternative Easter gifts too, just to balance out all the chocolate. There are some lovely items around and some which have caught my eye include Cutetito’s, the Little Lucky Lunchbox range and the brand new My Little Pony Retro. Photo by Luke Porter on Unsplash While a true helicopter parent would have no qualms about taking their child’s smartphone each evening to check up on their activity, most of us realise that this is a clear breach of trust and not a good way to deal with things. Not only will it build barriers between ourselves and our kids, you probably won’t get the full picture anyway. Ofcom research shows that 46% of 12 to 15 year olds know how to delete their browsing history, and more than a quarter have done so in the past. Around a third (36%) know how…

I hope you had a great weekend. I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Five Happy Things {Week 234} I’m always thankful that my children enjoy school. My son was appointed an Eco Warrior at the start of Year 4 and finally got a badge to wear on his uniform. He loves having a job to do…

A few weeks ago we were invited to visit Tower Bridge and The Monument, two iconic landmarks in London. It had been a while since our last visit to Tower Bridge, and we’d never taken the kids to The Monument, so we were looking forward to a great day out. The weather was perfect, so we jumped on the tube and emerged at Tower Hill a little later. Exploring Tower Bridge with kids Tower Bridge stands close to the Tower of London and connects Tower Hamlets with Southwark. It’s a combined bascule and suspension bridge, built between 1886 and 1894. It’s actually free…

Five Happy Things {Week 233} Last week my son celebrated his ninth birthday. Mondays are our busy hectic day but the kids insisted on going to all their after school clubs. It meant my son was still opening presents at bedtime but he really enjoyed…

A few weeks ago (this year is really flying by!) we decided to re-visit Cliveden, a local NT property. Cliveden has a wonderful history. The house itself is currently a private hotel so there is limited access, but you can explore the estate which consists of formal gardens and woodland walks, as well as the maze and Storybook Play Den for the kids. We knew it was a lovely place for seeing snowdrops too and there was plenty to do for the whole family. Whilst we were there we re-joined the NT so are looking forward to lots more lovely…

Five Happy Things (Week 232) Did you read my post about the Cricut Maker? I’m really excited to have a Cricut machine as I love crafting for my home. My first project was making a personalised vinyl sticker for my Cricut Maker. I’ll be sharing…

Yesterday we were invited to a wonderful Poopsie Slime Surprise pop up event in London. Poopsie Slime Surprise is the latest collectable unboxing toy for kids and one both my children enjoy. The toys are fun to unbox with layers of surprises and slime! You can read our review of the Poopsie Poop Pack, the Poopsie Surprise Unicorn, Poopsie Sparkly Critters. I kept the event as a surprise and after a quick trip to the Lego Store in Leicester Square, we headed to the venue. Poopsie Slime Surprise VIP event I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a colourful event…

I love a bit of home learning. My 7 year old just loves science, so much so that she was awarded her Science badge at Beavers last night! We had fun trying some experiments at home together. So I knew she would enjoy trying some of the new National Geographic™ Kits which we were gifted. National Geographic Shark Tooth Dig Kit My children have both tried these kinds of kits before. They love the challenge of trying to excavate to find the treasure. So they both knew exactly what to do. The first kit we opened was The Shark Tooth…
