No posting yesterday as we didn’t get back from the Amy Winehouse gig at Brixton until after midnight.She was absolutely brilliant, and only 45 minutes late. Today we have been searching all over London for a replacement fret for our fireplace. No-one was willing to see us the bit we wanted so it looks like we’ll be buying a reproduction one on the internet. We popped into Marylebone and looked round a small market at the top of the high street where we picked up these lovely biscuits (almost all gone). I had the good fortune to attend the launch of this years Open House at the new Olympic site in Stratford this evening. For as long as I’ve lived in London this has been my favourite weekend of the year. I’ve lost count of the amazing buildings I’ve had the opportunity to visit. My absolutely favourite so far has been the Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras Station. Today we went to Columbia Road Flower Market. I hadn’t been in years but it had hardly changed. We bought some new houseplants and got loads of good advice from the flower sellers – I’m never buying from Homebase again! Columbia Road Flower Market I loved the window display of Fred Bare Headwear (great name too!). We also treated ourselves to some delicious cakes from Treacle. Then we went for a lovely walk around Hoxton, Banksy spotting.
