    A little owl love

I finally got round to making a cute little owl, inspired by the tutowlrial at moonstitches. I really enjoyed the fact that there wasn’t a template to follow. Although I made many mistakes I think I learnt more making it this way.

    Another swap

I have signed up for a great swap, hosted by Amy over at Ibby Bee. I will make four coasters for my partner, JunieMoon, and receive four coasters from someone else in the swap group. I’ve never made coasters before and I spent today looking through my craft books for some inspiration. More inspiration can be found in the coaster swap flickr group! The photograph is completely unrelated to the swap but I also spent some time making some delicious gingerbread to eat whilst reading!

    Button fairies

I signed up for the Button Fairy swap on Swap-bot before Christmas and the deadline really came up quickly! I found the fairy faces online somewhere and stuck them on to some card stock to strengthen them. Then I threaded a selection of buttons from my stash along some plastic coated wire. As most of the button holes were so small I used 2mm wire. I think they’re cute!

    My very own Blythe

With all the excitement over Christmas I completely forgot to post about my new Blythe doll. After much careful web research I decided to take a day off from work and go to Brighton to purchase my Blythe. Very few shops sell them in the UK but I managed to buy a mini Blythe in Forbidden Planet, London, in 2006. Nasty Nip in Brighton stock a couple of different Blythe dolls and I wanted to see them before I decided which one to buy. The guy in the shop was lovely and helpful and showed me all his stock, including…

    Day 30

Hooray, I nearly made it, blogging every day throughout November. There were a couple of times when I just couldn’t get to the laptop or I just couldn’t think of anything to write. Tonight we are on the Isle of Wight having survived a pretty turbulent trip over the Solent. I managed to complete my little Stanley dog which I’m giving to my mum on her birthday on Sunday. Unfortunately my competition entry was returned as Cath Kidston’s inbox is full! She obviously didn’t expect quite so many entries.

    Day 20

I spent the evening cutting out fabric for my handmade ornaments and started sewing them together. Six down, four to go!

    Day 19

Hooray, today there was some progress with the handmade Christmas ornament. I have made a prototype which turned out well and I should be able to start making the real ones this week. I found some great fabric in Brighton on Saturday. Perhaps I’ll post a little preview tomorrow. I’ve seen a couple of posters on the tube for a Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park over Christmas. They have a German market, ice skating, an observation wheel and lots more. I definitely want to go!

    Day 18

Not quite the craftiness I was planning but better than nothing. I fully intended to make a start with the handmade ornament swap today. Instead I got stuck doing a whole load of other things. We visited our local farmers market in Palmers Green this morning. It was small but there were a variety of stalls and we picked up some delicious pastries as well as some local flour, milled at home on the Isle of Wight. This afternoon I finished some swapbot swaps; handmade Christmas cards and Christmas ATCs. I must remember to head off early to the Post…
