    Making simple mosaic hearts

    I’ve had some time to myself this week. I put my #sewalittlehappiness sampler to one side, and made some mosaics from a crafty subscription box. I really need some time to myself, especially after a day of home learning with my two. Since we’ve been at home I’ve treated myself to a few subscription boxes. I love having a craft I know I can finish in a few days. It seems a long time since I made my mosaic rainbow in a workshop. It’s one of my favourite makes and has been proudly on display in our window of rainbows,…

    Why SVG files are an essential tool for crafters

    Disclosure – post in collaboration with Design Bundles Can you believe I’ve had my Cricut Maker for over a year now? It’s my favourite cutting machine and I love looking for my next craft to make. I’ve been kept busy during lockdown with my crafting and I’m so thankful that I already had enough equipment and materials to keep me busy crafting. With birthdays and anniversaries, I’m never short of people to make for. The only thing I don’t have are the svg files to use on my machine. Why SVG files are an essential tool for crafters I’ve written a…

    Recycled wooden pallet union flag

    An invitation to a socially distanced VE Day Street Party popped through our letterbox last week and it was just the reason I needed to create something big. For the last few weeks we’ve had a huge painted rainbow outside our house. We have a window full of rainbows but created a huuuuge rainbow especially for our neighbour who works for the London Ambulance Service. The rainbow isn’t going anywhere but I thought it would be fun to recycle a wooden pallet to make a union flag to display outside our house when we celebrate the anniversary of VE Day…

    Sewing in i-sew-lation: my Shipping Forecast quilt

    So I finally finished something! The Shipping Forecast quilt I started (a long time ago) is finally finished and I have to admit that I feel a bit flat without my long-term WIP hanging around. My last update was in March when I had pinned the three layers of my quilt sandwich together. I knew it wouldn’t take me long to finish it. The fabric I had originally bought wasn’t really long enough to use as binding, and my quilt backing shrunk a little as I quilted the layers. I trimmed the edges to make sure they were neat and…

    Mini rainbow hanging

    Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Mini rainbow hanging Issue 118 of Mollie Makes landed on my doorstep last week. I was excited to see it but upset that it’s going to be the last issue for a while. The magazine came with a cute plastic canvas rainbow kit which…

    My hands making: Felt dinosaur pincushion

    Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Felt dinosaur pincushion Back in Feb I made the cute Kitty Keyring from Issue 115. Issue 116 came with Jenny Blair’s dino pincushion kit. The kit included felt, embroidery thread, a needle, and toy stuffing. Working with felt is fun and I enjoyed making…

    Easy Cricut made Easter Egg hunt sign

    With Easter only a few days away I’ve had to up my crafting game. This is proving quite difficult with having to home educate my children! However, we love celebrating Easter and I want to make a special effort to create something fun this year. We always hold an Easter Egg Hunt and this year I wanted to make new signs to use for an outdoor Easter Egg Hunt (or indoors if the weather is bad). You all know how much I love my Cricut Maker so looked for free Easter Egg Hunt svg files. I found a really fun…

    Win a Concrete Kit from Cosy Craft Club

    I’ve always been a huge advocate on the benefits of crafting. I love to have a couple of projects on the go and find they are a great way of soothing my mind after a long day. It doesn’t matter if it’s creative colouring, hand sewing, paper cutting or trying something new on my Cricut – I love the act of creating something, especially if I can put the finished piece up on the wall, or gift it to someone. If you want to find out more about the benefits then read 4 reasons craft is good for you on…

    The Shipping Forecast quilt {update 6}

    Last week my son was sick so spent a day at home with me. He spent most of the day lying on the sofa, watching tv, which meant I needed to find something to do. My Shipping Forecast quilt had been sitting in the corner, looking at me, so it seemed like the perfect time to get it out and work on it. The Shipping Forecast quilt I love listening to The Shipping Forecast on Radio 4. Before my children came along I used to stay up late, listening to it before bed. Now I’m in bed a lot earlier…
