Time for my weekly Monday happy things post. I’m excited to announce that we’ve been chosen as Playmobil Playologists for the 3rd year running. We love Playmobil and are looking forward to sharing our reviews and Playmobil news with you. My husband treated me to a new Orla Kiely handbag which was my annual wife bonus. I haven’t had a new Orla Kiely handbag for a good few years so had a lovely look at some of her latest collection whilst we were on holiday in Exeter last week. I chose the Big Owl Zip Messenger which features a new…

The last week was really fun and busy for us. I’m not quite sure how we survived the phenomenal heat, but we did. On the hottest day of the year I found myself enjoying a delicious lunch at The Ritz with my 3-year-old. We were invited there to meet parenting expert Sarah Ockwell-Smith and see the new My First Forever Friends range from Golden Bear. I will be telling you more about this shortly. When I was in the West End I popped in the flagship Cath Kidston store in Piccadilly and saw a button necklace which had been on…

This morning I’m still catching up on sleep from attending the amazing event that was Blogtacular. I found it totally exhausting but fun and will hopefully write more about it another day. Back to my weekly Monday happy things post. As usual lots has made me smile this week. – Last week I took myself off to Chesham to scout out the local charity shops. I haven’t done it for ages and I loved every second, especially the tube journey through the beautiful Chiltern Hills. – The article I wrote on tips for creating a fairy gardens has appeared on…

I’m not sure why Monday always surprises me but it does. I had the laziest weekend possible as I really needed to recharge my batteries and now I’m ready to share my Monday Happy Things. Yesterday I finished piecing all the hexagons for my union flag quilt. My 3 year old really wants me to finish ‘her’ quilt and was keen to photo bomb my photographs this morning. I’m going to add a panel of solid to either side of the pieced union flag to make it large enough to cover her bed. I just need to find time to…

I love Cath Kidston and was totally inspired by her use of ric rac to make a Cath Kidston-inspired ric rac skirt for my daughter. I bought a cute little denim skirt and four different coloured 1m lengths of ric rac. I pinned each piece of ric rac to the bottom of the skirt starting from the side seam. I used the hem to line them up and keep them evenly spaced. Then I turned the skirt inside out and started sewing on the ric rac with my machine. I used white thread as a contrast to the colours of…

A couple of week ago I treated myself to this gorgeous Cath Kidston skirt in my very favourite print – London buses. I adore this print but sadly the skirt didn’t look so great on. I wanted to keep the skirt so decided to re-fashion it into a cushion. I’m trying to have a London theme for our living room with my vintage London bus blind and vintage London bus collection. How to upcycle a Cath Kidston skirt into a cushion: First I removed the elasticated waist band and unpicked the hem to stretch out the amount of fabric. I…

This is my weekly opportunity to remember some of my highlights of the previous week and it’s been pretty busy. We really enjoyed a trip to The Art of The Brick exhibition on Brick Lane. It features over 100 models by artist Nathan Sawaya all made from Lego and was pretty inspiring. Whilst out in the West End we spotted a couple of decorated Shaun the Sheep statues. My favourite was the one sponsored by Cath Kidston near their Covent Garden store. Little Sis loved being a Princess thanks to some Disney Magic at the Cinderella exhibition we scored free…

Last week was a lot of fun and I cut back on my blogging and felt really creative for a change. I completed a little wall hanging that’s been half finished for months. Years ago I made really small EPP hexagons with no real idea of what I was going to do with them. I decided to stitch them to a piece of linen and hang them on my Quilt Gallery Wall. My new Cath Kidston iPhone 6 Plus case which was a gift for Mother’s Day. The pattern is called Paradise Fields and I love it. image credit A…

Just popping in to list the things which have made me happy this week. A visit to Cath Kidston where I treated myself to a Piccadilly cushion. It goes perfectly with my vintage London bus sign and vintage toy bus collection. Watching and enjoying Birdman. Baking Miffy biscuits with my daughter. They didn’t last long enough to be iced – hopefully the next batch will. The new Merchant and Mills/Uniqlo collaboration. They all feature sewing slogans or images and there are so many items I want (all of them). I think I’m going to ask for this one for my…
