A few weeks ago (this year is really flying by!) we decided to re-visit Cliveden, a local NT property. Cliveden has a wonderful history. The house itself is currently a private hotel so there is limited access, but you can explore the estate which consists of formal gardens and woodland walks, as well as the maze and Storybook Play Den for the kids. We knew it was a lovely place for seeing snowdrops too and there was plenty to do for the whole family. Whilst we were there we re-joined the NT so are looking forward to lots more lovely…

It’s been a long time since we went and picked our own fruit and veg. In fact it is over5 years ago when we used to live in North London. Then we ventured north to Parkside Farm Pick Your Own Farm in Enfield. I think we had one child, there may have been two. What I did know was that another visit was well overdue. Now we live in West London it made sense to find something a little nearer us. So I looked online and found Copas Farms Pick Your Own. They have two sites, one at Iver Heath…

On Saturday we planned a grand day out. Our diary was free of play dates and parties and we really wanted to go somewhere new. We live on the edge of West London and we’re so lucky to have the countryside on our doorstep. We decided to head over to High Wycombe for the day. We’ve passed through many times on our way to Hughenden Manor or Odds Park Farm but decided it was time to stop off and see what it had to offer. My husband loves to drive but we were recently offered a Family and Friends Railcard which…

Earlier this year we enjoyed a day out exploring a little further afield than normal. We all love heritage railways so visited the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Aylesbury. It is a railway museum based at the old Quainton Road railway station, about 5 miles west of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. The site is divided into two halves which are joined by two foot-bridges. Each side has a demonstration line with various workshop buildings as well as museum buildings. It is a great place to visit with something always going on. When we arrived and bought our tickets we explored the glass-roofed visitor centre which is actually the…

Now the weather is warming up I’m really excited to get out more at the weekend. Not that we don’t go out in winter, it’s just a lot more enjoyable when the weather is warmer. Living on the outskirts of London the countryside is at the end of the road. We’re lucky to have Odds Park Farm only 20 minutes away and in the last we’ve been for a friends birthday party as well as the Reception class school trip. The perfect Spring day out at Odds Park Farm Odds Park Farm is a certified Rare Breeds Farm at Wooburn…

I’ve mentioned Hughenden Manor a few times on my blog. It’s a local National Trust property and a great family day out. We’ve recently re-joined the National Trust as we realised how much we missed being members so I am looking forward to lots more great days out in 2017! We visited Hughenden in October to go pumpkin carving. You can read all about our Halloween experience here. As we were leaving one of the volunteers mentioned we should book early for Christmas and I did. I read a little more about it on their website and knew it sounded…

I’m so pleased we were able to squeeze in a trip to do some pumpkin carving at Hughenden Manor today. It was a great way to round off a very exciting half term. It’s also one of my favourite National Trust properties. Hughenden Manor was the home of Benjamin Disraeli, once Prime Minister, but also had an important role during the Second World War. Today you can visit part of the house, gardens, and extensive grounds. They also run some really fun events for families. Last year we went along to one of their Apple Days, this time we wanted…

Apple Days seem to be growing in popularity over the last few years. I keep hearing about them, I’ve even tried a few kids crafts on my blog but we’ve never made it to an event – until today. In between ballet lessons and birthday parties we headed over to Hughenden Manor, a lovely National Trust property near High Wycombe for the afternoon. There is so much to do at Hughenden Manor. There’s a beautiful historic house, once the home of Benjamin Disraeli, gardens, woods, a walled garden, a lovely cafe and they hold some great events. Since our last…

This week the digitally restored and first widescreen release of The BFG The Movie was released on DVD and Blu-ray. I love Roald Dahl books and The BFG was always one of my favourites. It was strange sitting down to watch a film from my childhood with the toddler but he loved it so I will be off to the library to find some Roald Dahl books to read together. To celebrate the release of the film I have a lovely competition for you, where you can win a copy of The BFG and Family Golden Ticket to the Roald…
