    Plum goodies

This morning we were very excited to receive two big boxes full of beautifully packed Plum baby food! I love filling in questionnaires and apparently we won the prize for telling Plum our opinion of fromage frais! The prize was £50 of Plum baby food and we were sent meals, cereals, fromage frais and sauces which we can use now as well as more varieties to use at 7 months +. This was such an amazing prize and fun to open through the layers of tissue paper! Of course we had to sample one so Edward had Raspberry and Rosehip…

    Cuddledry giraffe towel

Edward loves all things giraffe (or perhaps I love giraffes and just like to buy him things!). Anyway, he has a couple of Sophie teethers which he really enjoys chewing and a giraffe soft toy. So when I was googling ‘baby’ and ‘giraffe’ I was very happy to see that cuddledry have brought out a handy towel to dry your little one safely. I had to buy it! We use it every bath time and as you can see my little one is happy to snuggle in it after his bath. The idea behind the apron style means you can…

    Eczema in young babies

Since my son was only 2 weeks old he developed eczema on his face and body. At first I wasn’t too worried and tried to keep his skin moisturised with olive oil. I only washed him in cooled boiled water without soap and washed his clothes separately with non-bio detergent. However, within 6 weeks the patches got bigger and itchier. I made a appointment at our local health centre and we were given a huge bottle of E45 to liberally apply. We discussed possible triggers to the eczema such as allergies to our cats, the washing powder we used or…

    The Gallery: Playtime

My little one has reached the stage where he loves to play. He spends the whole day laughing and giggling but his face really lights up when you get down to his level and play. We’ve tried not to go too mad buying toys but I didn’t anticipate his favourite pasttime would be lying on his baby gym sucking plastic rings! This post was written for Week 21 of Tara’s Gallery The theme this week was Playtime For more ideas for playtime check out The Play Academy.

    Vegetable purees

I spent this evening making some vegetable purees for my little boy. Over the last few weeks we’ve been working our way through some tasty foods from Hipp Organic and Plum which have gone down very well. However I really want to make my own purees so I read Annabel Karmel’s Top 100 Baby Purees for some inspiration. Today I stopped off at the local supermarket and bought a butternut squash and a bag of carrots. I washed, peeled and cooked the vegetables separately and then pureed butternut squash, carrots and some leftover mashed potato in our blender with a…

    Cheating

While I was pregnant I joined lots of clubs to help me decide what products I should use. One of my favourite is  Hipp Organic and we have been sent some great samples of baby foods. I try really hard not to succumb to marketing gimmicks but I genuinely like Hipp Organic as it is an established brand, the food is pure and simple with no added nasties and the recipes are nice and simple. So it didn’t take me long to purchase a weaning kit when I was thinking about weaning a few weeks ago. Look at all the…

    Peltor ear defenders

Today we went to the Farnborough International Airshow 2010. It was a bit of a drive but my husband really wanted to see the Vulcan fly and I love the Red Arrows! We couldn’t leave Edward behind but needed something to protect him from the noise of the aircraft. A friend recommended Peltor ear defenders which come in pink or green. They were perfect for the job! They fitted snuggly over baby ears and kept all unwanted noises out. As you can see, Edward slept through the day 🙂

    Nappuccino

A couple of weeks ago Edward and I went along to a Nappuccino organised by a lovely lady from The Washable Nappy Co.  Ages ago a friend gave me a leaflet about real nappies and I was interested to try them out for many reasons: 8 million nappies are thrown away in Britain every day and 90% of those end up in landfill each baby uses between 4 -6000 nappies and these will fill about 160 black bin liners children in real nappies tend to toilet train on average around 6 months earlier than those in disposables (!) there is…

    Lucky me

Over the last few weeks I have been lucky to win some prizes through some of my favourite websites and new blogs. The first was a Mac-in-a-Sac waterproof jacket from Adventure Togs via British Mummy Bloggers. Useful for when we’re out and about on one of our many walks! Then I won a scooter bag from Micro Scooters Ltd via Netmums. I might have to put this away for a few years until Edward has a scooter 🙂 Finally I won a Disney game for the Nintendo DS called Club Penguin via UrbanVox. I love my DS and am looking…
