I took 22 videos today of Edward as I’ve been trying to capture him moving from sitting to crawling. In the process I’ve taken video of him playing with his toys, shopping in Tesco’s and on the car ferry. He’s been eyeing up my changing bag for a while but today he finally got hold of it and had a good look. He also grabbed my (un-read) copy of Heat. We’re blaming Nanny for his love of magazines as yesterday she gave him a magazine which he quickly shredded – now no magazine is safe! Following my Lady GaGa moment I have been sent a lovely Flip Ultra to review for a week. A week doesn’t seem a long time but Edward seems to learn a new skill every day so I am challenging myself to make a video of him every day and use my poor neglected YouTube account. The last couple of days we have been visiting my poor father in law who fell 12 feet off a ladder. Whilst staying in a hotel Edward seemed to practically roll over and stand up simultaneously! I’m looking forward to trying to capture these gymnastics.…

When the people at Dorel (who own the Quinny brand) heard that the Quinny Zapp Xtra fell over with the Maxi-Cosi car seat they recalled the chassis to take a look at it. It was examined at the service centre and fully inspected and tested by their Head Engineer. No faults were found with the chassis or breaking system and everything works as it should. I’m not sure whether I’m pleased or not. I expected it to have a fault as surely a pushchair would not be made which could not support the weight of the car seat it is…

Almost since the day we took Edward home from the hospital I’ve been wondering when was the best time for baby number two. I love Edward and I’m surprised how much I enjoy being a mother. I’m not sure what I expected but the last seven and a half months have been exciting and exhilarating as well as hard work and exhausting 🙂 However, I’m 33 and keen to expand my little family before too long so when I was given the opportunity to review The Second Baby Survival Guide I jumped at the chance. The book was written by…

I have a small obsession with Cath Kidston and although I try not to go too often on my last visit I spent far too much. I went in for the new London iPhone 4 case which I duly purchased. However her Christmas range is starting to creep into the stores and I couldn’t resist. I came out with the iPhone case, a reversible jumper for Edward (which I couldn’t resist) and a Christmas sack to hold his presents, as well as paper chains, Christmas crackers, and paper cups, plates and napkins from the Christmas range. Eeeek, an expensive trip.…

As it’s Edward’s first Halloween we decided to go all out to have a party to remember. Edward had two outfits, or a morning and afternoon outfit, as he is a messy eater! This morning he wore a skeleton outfit and this afternoon a pumpkin outfit (hat knitted by nanny!). As well as an outfit we decided to have Halloween themed food and decorations, which meant a carved pumpkin. My husband is a novice pumpkin carver but managed to produce this beauty: Not bad for his first attempt!

Just before we were about to start weaning Edward we looked around for a highchair. We wanted something a bit different whilst being practical and affordable. We decided on a Stokke Tripp Trapp but could only find two suppliers in London – Harrods or Born! Luckily Born is based near us in Stoke Newington so we went to view the Tripp Trapp and pick a colour. It was easy to assemble and with the Baby set conversion kit Edward has happily used his Tripp Trapp for the last few months. As Edward has grown he has used the footplate to…

I’m a hoarder and I’m not afraid to admit it! This is why my job as a curator is perfect as it allows me to collect, catalogue and keep for ever! I’ve always kept momentoes of events – I have boxes full of ticket stubs as well as photographs, programmes and keepsakes. When we got married two years ago I squirreled away a selection of items to remind me of our wedding day – a programme, an invite, some wedding cake, a thank you card, as well as our official wedding album and guest book. I knew I wanted to…

The lovely people at Miffy sent Edward a toy from the new selection of classic Miffy toys which have never been available in the UK before. The Miffy rattle car is suitable from 6 months and features a chunky handle – prefect for little chubby fingers learning to grip. Each of the four wheels contains small balls, which provide the rattle, and feature Dick Bruna’s other well known characters. The rattle makes a noise when pushed along. At 7 months Edward is interested in toys he can really interact with so I wasn’t sure how much fun he would have with…
