    Christmas preparations

So we’ve got through our seemingly endless preparations for Christmas and the big day is nearly here. Today we finished the peppermint creams, coconut ice, brownies, cupcakes and the oven is finally free and cooking the turkey. I can’t wait to spend tomorrow with the family enjoying all the hard work of the last few days and helping Edward open his mountain of presents. I’ve found a couple of fun ways to remind us of his first Christmas. Firstly Sally was giving away codes to make a photograph showing Father Christmas in your house. Well we’re currently staying with my…

    Travel Kit for Baby

A couple of days before Christmas and I have just the gift for expectant mums, new mums or mums and little ones who deserve a special treat! Bath time is a lot more fun since we have been using the lovely beginning… by Maclaren bath products. The handy travel size products, beautiful packaging and natural ingredients make it an ideal Christmas present. Both myself and my husband love adding the products to bath time. We’ve now used all the travel size pots and would recommend it as a great gift at any time of the year. The travel kit for…

    Steriliser meltdown

Last week my steriliser had a spectacular meltdown in the microwave. To my horror I opened the door and this is what I found: One quick tweet later and the lovely people @TommeeTippee_UK had despatched a replacement steriliser. Fortunately we had a spare cold water steriliser which we could use for a few days so we just had to replace the bottles. We’ve used the microwave steriliser since Edward was born and it’s fantastic. It’s small, compact, easy to load, and holds four bottles and accessories. It sterilises in just 8 minutes and the contents remain sterile for 24 hours…

    Maclaren Kid Testing

We’ve now been using our lovely beginning….bath products at every bath time for the last week. Edward is taking his responsibilities as a Maclaren Kid Tester very seriously and we’ve been looking at each product, having a chew on the packaging and smelling each bottle before use. Bath time is usually quite simple as we generally only use E45 bath oil but we’ve been pleasantly surprised how easy it’s been to incorporate the Maclaren range of products during and after Edward’s bath time. Edward loves the bath products, they make his skin very soft and help him relax. We usually…

    A new family’s Christmas traditions

We are a new little family and as this is our son’s first Christmas I want to start some of our own Christmas traditions which I hope will make it really special every year. Some we can’t do until he’s a bit older but here’s my wish list: Put up the Advent calendar I made which has plenty of room for a chocolate coin in each pocket Receive a letter from Father Christmas (via the NSPCC) Visit Father Christmas (this year we enjoyed a trip to see him here) Go to Oxford Street to see the Christmas lights or visit…

    Junk Play

We’re a bit late to join in the fun at The Play Academy but I thought I’d post a picture of the fun we had recently with a couple of cardboard boxes. It’s amazing what Edward will play with. Items I think are ordinary can be transformed into new play experiences and take favour over older toys. Not only can cardboard be chewed it can also be sat in! Boxes are also great for putting toys in and taking them out again. Even the shredded paper inside a box can be played with. Thanks to the holiday season there is…

    My lucky streak

It’s been a while since I have posted about my recent competition winnings. I’m finding less time so enter competitions as Edward is down to two naps during the day and they are getting shorter (already! he is only 8 months!). However I have had some great wins over the last few months. First of all I was lucky enough to win a Belling Butler in a Twitter competition. I’m not quite sure where we’re going to put it in our little terraced house but it will be great for dinner parties! Secondly I’ve been lucky enough to win a…

    Felt bird garland

I was busy sewing, sewing, sewing…. I’ve taken part in a few handmade decoration swaps lately and made these lovely little birds for a garland from my favourite felt sewing book Fa la la la Felt. My partner asked for something red so I hope she likes it. We also managed a shopping trip for some more Christmas presents (see, I told you I was addicted to buying!). Edward now has some new socks, Christmas bibs and adorable suede booties.
