My son was sent a personalised Christmas book from Born Gifted who sell children’s gifts and toys. They have a great range of Christmas gifts and kindly allowed me to choose one of their personalised Christmas books to review which include a personalised Twelve Days of Christmas book, 24 Sleeps ’til Christmas Advent Activity book, Your Letter to Santa personalised book, and Personalised Christmas Story Book. I loved the look of the 24 Sleeps ’til Christmas Advent Activity Book so told them how I waned to personalise it and then waited for it to arrive. My pictures don’t really do…

We’re all very excited that Advent has started in our house. Advent calendars have been opened, Advent candles lit, and our Elf on the Shelf has taken up his position in our house. We’ll be opening the first book in our book advent today too. This year I also made a little advent garland, each one features a small activity to keep us busy during this festive month. I used brown paper bags (which I bought from Lakeland) and folded each one roughly into four equal parts, then cut them apart, turning over two corners on one side to make…

Last year we experimented with a Book Advent where you basically read a book every day during Advent. This was additional to our bedtime reading and we concentrated on Christmas books, with a little help from our local Oxfam shop! Having a toddler to keep busy means I have tried to come up with lots of activities during advent. We’ve been talking about Christmas for a while (or Chris-Chris as he likes to call it) and I know he’s confused. I’m hoping that our book advent, his traditional chocolate a day Thomas calendar and our activity calendar will keep us busy and allow us a smooth run up to the big day. It’s not hard to find ideas online for advent calendar games, from homemade craft tips to festive printables, games and videos. Last year Father Christmas had a very…

Have you ever heard of a book advent? I think I first heard about it on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to do with the children. Instead of a tacky Advent calendar with cheap chocolate, we’ll be unwrapping a Christmas book every day of December leading up to Christmas Day. This way we will get to spend more time reading together, which is something we all love, and some time each day to enjoy the festive season. The hard part has been finding the books. 24 Christmas-themed books can be difficult. I really wanted to buy second hand…
