Shopping for boys (BritMums/TK Maxx 3 Looks for £30 Challenge!)

Posted on August 9, 2012February 28, 2019 by jenny

BritMums challenged me to find three great looks for the toddler for £30 at TK Maxx. Part of the challenge was to pick three outfits, all tailored to different occasions. The toddler has a busy social life so I chose scooting round the park, our summer music class and back to school.

We’re lucky that we have a TK Maxx in our local shopping centre so arrived nice and early to make sure the toddler was in a good mood. He’s a bit temperamental so you have to make sure he’s in the right frame of mind if you want him to co-operate. We had a good look at the clothes which were helpfully divided by age. The toddler is tall so we looked through the clothes for both 2 and 3 year olds.

The first outfit we chose was for our summer Hartbeeps music class. I know it’s a long-sleeved hooded top but I couldn’t resist the retro image of the headphones and cassette player by Ben Sherman.

The second outfit was for one of our trips to the park. We try to go everyday and sometimes take the scooter so wanted something fun. We were really happy when we found a cool short-sleeved tshirt from Skatelab, featuring a skeleton on a skateboard.

The third outfit was for back to school. The toddler goes to a very posh nursery and is happiest when wearing his Thomas clothing. I couldn’t resist a long-sleeved rugby-type shirt so he can look a bit smarter than normal.

Our final purchase was a pair of jeans from Room Seven which were a bargain price of £5.99, reduced from £68.97! The jeans are great quality and go well with each top. That was the only thing that could be improved, there were lots of shirts, t-shirts, jumpers to choose from but not many trousers.

I will definitely be shopping in TK Maxx again, in store or on-line. I love the outfits we bought, the toddler is happy in them all too which is a bonus, and I know we can get some great labels for a really great price. Our final purchase price was £28.96 for the four items and we saved over £100!

Oh great finds, we went shopping today for our challenge and I was amazed at what we picked up.

Sadly, it cost me an additional £6 as Mr Joseph picked up some cars that he wouldn’t part with!!!

Hee hee, I should have mentioned the extra £10 I spent on a new wooden toy train bridge! Clever of them to put the toys next to the clothes 🙂
