Starting my week with The Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.

The Weekly Edit {Week 38/2026}

I finished reading Eleanor: a 200 mile walk in search of England’s Lost Queen by Alice Loxton. I’ve wanted to read this book for a while and really enjoyed it. The author walks the entire 200-mile funeral route of Queen Eleanor of Castile, traveling from Lincoln to London on the exact corresponding dates of the 1290 procession. Her husband, King Edward marked each overnight resting place of her funeral cortege with twelve magnificent stone monuments, known as the Eleanor Crosses. Only three original crosses survive but most of them are marked in some way near their original locations.

I started and finished a small cross stitch kit, cross stitch toadstools. It was a fun little project and I completed it in a few evenings whilst watching the latest series of Ludwig.

We finally made it to Nunhead Cemetery in south London thanks to a rare day with nothing in the calendar. This was the last of the Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries we wanted to visit, a little side quest we started many years ago. It’s a beautiful place and we found a lovely pub for lunch too.

I tried my hand at making DIY clay flower frogs with air drying clay, this was from the latest Teabreak Project box I bought. It was a fun project but my garden is sadly devoid of any flowers so I can’t use them at the moment.

I decided to pack away my latest jigsaw as it has sadly defeated me. Usually I can do them in a few days but this was just a tricky one for me, and no one wanted to help. I’ve done nearly all of the Happily jigsaw puzzles but this one featured a collection of colourful toy cars and it was too tricky.
