Starting my week with The Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 37/2026}
I love to bake at this time of year. This week I made a delicious lemon cake. It was meant to be a lemon and poppy seed, but I forgot to add the poppy seeds! It still tasted good and only lasted a few days.
The Halloween crafts have started creeping into the house already. I spotted the cutest little make your own wooden pumpkin stall kit in The Works, which I bought and made. I love this time of year and have already bought my first munchkin and have the candles out too.
The youngest teen and I went to the cinema to watch Practical Magic 2 I only watched Practical Magic when I heard about the sequel, but really enjoyed it. I encouraged the teen to watch it so we could go and see the new film together. We loved the new film! It is a really fun sequel with a good storyline and soundtrack.
We built the new sofa bed chair we had purchased for the spare room. We’ve nearly finished all the work we started earlier this year. The garden cabin is finished, the youngest teen has a new velux window in her bedroom and the living room is painted and re-arranged.
We went to Dog Day at the Museum of Illusions on Tottenham Court Road in London. This is a place we’ve wanted to go for a while and it was a bonus that we were able to take our dog. The dog didn’t really know what was going on but we enjoyed ourselves and took lots of fun photos.
