Gingerbread house finds

Posted on March 4, 2012February 20, 2019 by jenny

It’s been a while but I couldn’t resist this wooden abacus in my local charity shop. They must be quite common as after buying it I saw another one in a different shop.

wooden abacus

Big Brother won’t be using it just yet but I like to think (everything crossed) that it’s robust enough to withstand his full force. He seems to be going through a ‘stage’ where he’s a little, dare I say, manic. He’s 2 next month and not afraid to let me know he has his own opinions, regarding the clothes he wears, the food he eats, the toys we play with, if he should have an afternoon nap or not, etc.

I’ve spoilt him a bit lately. He’s benefited from numerous second hand jigsaw puzzles which are his current toy of choice. I’ve taken to hiding them from him as there are only so many times I can do four Bob the Builder puzzles before breakfast! I suppose they could always get donated back to the charity shop I bought them from…

You always find very stylish toys. I’ve not seen an abacus in a charity shop recently, so they can’t be that common.
Your comment about doing 4 jigsaws before breakfast made me smile – my son likes jigsaws too.

I’ve got a couple of abacus…? What’s the plural of abacus?!

Anyway, they always look stylish even after the kids have outgrown them. x

Ooh! I also have an abacus in my latest ‘thrift finds’ post! Must be an abacus-filled week. Haha. Very cute!
