Film review: Green Lantern

I was so very excited when I was asked to join the Tots100 Film Club, When we received our first email inviting us to pick our first family film I chose the Green Lantern on Blu-Ray. Ryan Reynolds in a tight lycra green suit – what’s not to love? But this should be a *serious film review* so first let me tell you the facts.

Green Lantern is based on the DC Comics character of the same name and was released in 2011. Green Lantern tells the story of a test pilot (Hal Jordan played by Ryan Reynolds) who is selected to become the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps and given a ring that grants him superpowers after a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the universe.

I’m not a sci-fi fan but this had enough lycra, face paint and eye candy to keep me entertained. At times there was a bit too much green on my screen but I can’t resist a film where good triumphs over evil. The film is rated a PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action but is still a great family film. My son was too young to watch it (his attention span is about 5 minutes) but I can’t wait for the day he really gets the idea of superhero’s. I have his cape ready…

  2. I feel like those short blokes who epically trekked to Modor to dispose of some jewellery because the local cash converters was shut but after an awesome quest… I have found someone who actually enjoyed Green Lantern 😀

(PS. it’s only marginally better than Ghost Rider)
